Summer vacation.
I saw the Wyoming stuff on the 'Trips' page and it would be the vacation of a life time.

I am looking into taking the Amtrak to Salt Lake City, staying at the SLC hostel (US16$). Can I take a bus or get a ride with someone to the trailhead rendez-vous?

I am sure we can arrange for someone to pick you up. Many of us will be flying into Salt Lake. Book the trip and we will make plans to pick you up.

Why on God's green earth would anyone take AMTRAK, it's more expensive and much slower?

I love taking the train. You can see the countryside (AKA God's green earth) and visit with all sorts of people. When I went on the CO 2002 trip, I took Amtrac from CA. It was great.

Thanks, everyone.
I love the train, too. It's the cheapest fare from Montreal by far. Apparently there is a very nice hostel near the station.

I couldn't find any Greyhound service to anywhere near Pinedale from SLC.

I'll be working on the plans starting now.

Hostels are fun. There's usually a common area and you get to talk with people from all over the world.

The Bug Hostel is near Yosemite. Check it out online. You can get private rooms or sleep in a dormitory. They serve food that is totally gourmet. Apparently, the Ahwahnee cooks gravitate to the Bug Hostel because it is more laid back.
