How far will "The Passion of the Christ" go?

“According to Yahoo! Movies the passion has made $264,510,209 in just three weeks. Last weekend it brought in $32,000,000 which was almost double the earnings of the number two movie. According to Yahoo!'s All Time Box Office, Passion, which is not ranked yet (ranked when it is pulled from theaters), has just dethroned the #23 best selling movie ever, "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets." Another $32mil weekend will bring it up to #18 dethroning "The Sixth Sense." Some experts believe that the movie will break the $300mil mark. So how far will this movie go? Easter weekend is next month and some websites I've read expect the movie to be number one that weekend. "Forest Gump" is the #10 movie with $330million in box office profits...will Passion reach the top ten? Will it beat out any of the Star Wars or Lord of the Rings movies? Will it reach the top five and dethrone Spiderman? Might it catch the #1 box office movie Titanic with $600million is ticket sales?

It's amazing that a movie that every production studio in Hollywood refused to make has become one of the top earning movies ever. Typically movies will stay in theaters 10-15 weeks...how much will this movie rake any by then?”

Well, how many movies have
we seen based on books?
Some movies are pretty faithful
to the book. Some illustrate
only parts of the book. Some
don't reflect the book at all.

I don't agree with every second
of the movie, but it seems to me
that Gibson has followed the
"Book" more faithfully than any
other movie I have seen.

US police watchdog will investigate whether Los Angeles sheriff's officers gave favourable treatment to Mel Gibson and attempted to cover up his bizarre antics last Friday.

Mike Gennaco, the head lawyer with California's Office of Independent Review, said he would look into the reasons why deputy James Mee was asked to rewrite his report into the Hollywood star's arrest.
Gibson recorded a blood alcohol reading of .12 after he was caught speeding on an LA freeway.

He then allegedly attempted to escape arrest, tried to urinate in a police cell, threatened deputy Mee and made offensive statements about a female officer and Jews.

But the arrest report mentioned none of this and a sheriff's spokesman said Gibson had been "arrested without incident".

Mr Gennaco said an investigation would begin today. "All that stuff about favourable treatment is something that needs to be looked at," he said.

"I'd like to see if there was a legitimate law enforcement reason for asking that the report be altered."

Gibson's mugshot has still not been publicly released, in contrast with the arrests in Los Angeles of other celebrities, such as Nick Nolte, Robert Downey Jr, and Hugh Grant.

LA County Sheriff Lee Baca said the actor's behaviour after his arrest was not relevant to the criminal case.
