The news started off yesterday with that story and followed it up by the story of the elementary teacher that was caught selling Crystal Meth to his 10 year old students.”

“A school monitor has been fired after another employee reportedly witnessed her stuffing grass or weeds in the mouths of first-graders.

According to a Tucson Police report, Diana Ellis, 43, a school monitor at Myers/Ganoung Elementary School, was investigated Thursday after another employee reported an assault. According to the report the two first- graders had been caught Wednesday making fun of another school monitor who is deaf.

A custodian was asked to escort the two students to the deaf school monitor and apologize. After apologizing they were being escorted back when the custodian reported that Ellis walked up to them and asked what was going on, according to a police report.

The custodian reported getting distracted by other students, but his attention was brought back to the two first-graders when he heard choking. He told police that he saw one of the students spitting out grass or weeds and Ellis holding a handful of weeds. He says he saw her stuffing the weeds in the boys' mouths, the report said.

Ellis reportedly told the custodian that she had been told by the boys' parents to discipline them in "any way possible," according to the police report.

The father of one of the boys told police that he had previously given Ellis permission to discipline "within the scope of her job."

“A teacher at a Broomfield Catholic school has been fired after accidentally shooting one of his own students with a pellet gun during horseplay.

Arthur Pierce, a teacher at Holy Family High School, was playing around with students Tuesday during a break in a rehearsal for "Romeo and Juliet" when he shot a girl in her right hip, said Sgt. Rick Kempsell, a Police Department spokesman.

"Several kids were shooting at each other and the teacher was one of the ones shooting, as well," he said. "He hit the student. It was a poor decision."

“CLERMONT, Fla. -- A substitute teacher in Lake County, Fla., was terminated and banned from teaching in the county after he ripped out a student's insulin pump during class apparently thinking it was a ringing cell phone, according to a Local 6 News report.

Officials said a ninth-grade student at East Ridge High School, who is a Type I diabetic, was in class Monday when his insulin pump began to beep, indicating he was low on insulin.

Witnesses said the class teacher, Richard Maline, 51, asked the student what the beeping was.

School officials said Maline then grabbed the device, thinking it was a cell phone beeping and detached the tube that connects the insulin pump to the student's leg.

The student went to the school's clinic and had the tube reinserted.
