This is an update to my climb of Mt. Shasta, where manuka and Mtn Steve and others gave me and my partners some good advice. I finally got a way figured out to show some photos on the net. Visit http://patentpending.blogs.com/bob_shaver_photos/2004/11/mt_shasta_2004.html for the trip description, and click on the link for the photos.

Thanks for sharing the TR.
My photos are remarkably similar to yours except I had more snow which made walking easier.

We got snow a couple of hundred feet below L.Helen.

Wow! Incredible photos. I especially liked the shadow of Shasta on the valley floor and the long view of the ice chute.

Great photos! I don't know why anyone goes around the Thumb when the chutes are so cool to climb.

How was Misery Hill?

Steve, I felt pretty strong when I went up misery hill. It was further to the summit from there than I thought, but I was going slow and steady. When we got to the summit, I felt I could do another 1000 feet or so. Last time I tried Rainier, I was really tired, so for Shasta I trained harder.
