ok first off i wanna apologize for the title and original post, ive never been to good with words and i wrote this and posted it without pre-reading it, my opinions stay the same, i still feel that what we did in iraq was the right thing to do, whatever reason we did it for, im sure we've all been lied to and trusted that lie to be correct, in my mind thats all that bush did, im still gonna back him 100% and i would if i wasnt in the military, i saw so many threads with negativity about what i believe to be right and would give my life for, military efforts in iraq and the president, and i got offended to quickly, everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion and this was a very poorly thought through way to do so.."

Don't worry about it bro. Keep the faith. Just because you're in the minority on this board doesn't mean you're wrong. It's easy to be liberal around here since that's what the majority is on the political threads. It takes a little more guts to go against the grain.

civilians
Glad to read your new post.
We aren't all completely liberal or completely conservative.
I am somewhere in the middle I guess.
I was a firm Bush supporter but his environmental stands bother me a lot and that has been my major problem with him.
Politicians all lie about what they will do and what they have done so we should all be used to that.

Do you think al-Phaedy will apologize for saying President Bush is more dangerous than the taliban? I think your comments were right on with respect to scum like Phaedrus.

'Nuff said, Luke. It's a stand-up thing to admit you were wrong.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as traillady. His environmental stand is horrible. I think going to war in Iraq was wrong, but there's only one way out now. I do support the troops 100 percent, however. Hope everone comes home safely, but we know that won't happen for everybody.

Yeah, like Geo and TL said. THere's a HUGE difference in disagreeing with the Comm in Chief and being supportive of the troop. Lots of Americans feel like the Pres lied about the reasons he sent in the troops (me included) but that doesn't in any way imply that they/I don't pray for and respect the soldiers/sailers/flyers that are in harms way every day.

I'm glad you guys are there, I hope you all come home safely and I have tremendous respect for anyone who serves this country.

No offense to all the folks on the ground in Afghanistan or Iraq. Its gotta be a real pressure cooker over there. Most of us opposed to war in Iraq realize that soldiers/sailors are required to obey orders; no questioning the commander is allowed.

I do question what information the Bush team was working with when it decided to invade Iraq - doesn't seem like they had good intel, and didn't try to corraborate it in any way. They also don't seem to have much of an understanding of Middle East politics (maybe "W" should read William Thesiger's "Arabian Sands').

Really amazing to me was that Bush didn't even know where Afghanistan was when it became know as the center of Al-Quaeda's operations after 9/11. His father (Bush sr.)was heavily involved in aiding the resistance during the Soviet occupation in the 1980s, so I would think he would at least know where the country was!

Keep the faith and don't be afraid to blow off a little steam on TT.

batman luke, dont sweat getting angry. I'd be mad if I were serving and read some of the crap posted here.

Try not to let stuff like trail talk get under your skin. Contrary to how many folks act this place is inconsequential in the realm of politics and international relations. Its just words with no long term affect. Lots of hollow bickering.

Batman I have been around here for about 5 years and I just retired from the Army last January. There are a few others on TT as well that are military. You not only have the right to your opinion you have the duty to post it here and even though you may not agree with most on here you still need to meet and hike with some of the great folks. I once had a terrible difference of opinion with one person here and met him on a TT outing and found that he was one of my favorite people to hang out with.

Batman Luke you shouldn't let the so-called "people" here get you down. Most of them(they know who they are)are small-minded and petty and don't care about anybody but themslef. I hope we can talk more here because you sound like a nice young man who just must have had a bad day and once you type something and post it its hard to get back. I look forward to talking to you agian.

I think that last assessment was way off base. The folks here were pretty easy on you considering the tone of your post in the original thread. Most of us managed to tell you that the comments were offensive, but it wasn't done, for the most part, with a heavy hand. Could have been much worse. As for your clarification in this thread of your words, it takes a big person to admit when they say things they don't mean. Kudos to you for that...

Nice post kid. I too have often been wrong in some of my posts, and know it's tough to admit. I strongly oppose this war, but just as vehemnetly support the troops. Now my support is trying to get them out of Iraq, and the moron that put them there out of office. To me, that is just as important as the guys and gals out there fighting, except you have much more at risk, and scarifice.

When I hear military people having contempt for civilians I think of Latin American dictatorships where the military are little more than hired thugs with no respect for the citizens of their own country.

No matter how frustrating freedom may be, we must keep it alive and well.

Sorry, I may have popped off myself on the other post.

Batman Luke I'm not trying to break whatever you have between yourself and that little trollop. I just offered some advice after I discoverd the facts. Have you ever taken the time to observe how certain people(they know who they are)comport themselves here and interact with others? How disrespectful and mean-spirited they are?

When I look at the way certain people here(they know who they are)act, I can't help but to offer my advice to you that while the cat's away the mice will(and DO)play.

No matter how unhappy you are in your own life.. your daughter and Mike will never break up and neither shall me and Luke. The end. Get over yourself.
