Kerry's Wife a 'Benedict Arnold CEO'?

One of Sen. John Kerry's favorite stump speech tag lines these days is a blast at "Benedict Arnold CEOs [who] send American jobs overseas."

But he never quite gets around to mentioning his wife's connection to the Heinz Foods empire, which seems to be leading the pack in exporting jobs from America into the Third World.

Reporting for Tech Central Station, James Glassman revealed Wednesday, "The Kerry family business, H.J. Heinz Co. of Pittsburgh, operates 22 factories in the United States and 57 in foreign countries."

A quick check of the Heinz corporate Web site seems to confirm the fact that the Democratic presidential front-runner's family fortune derives from one of America's worst corporate traitors, at least according to the way Kerry defines the term.

Under World Locations, the Heinz Corp. Web site lists plants throughout the Third World, including the Middle East, Africa, Southern Africa, the Pacific Rim and Asia.

The company once owned by Mrs. Heinz Kerry's late husband seems to particularly favor the employee pool in Asia, where workers come dirt cheap and slave labor is not unknown.

Here are just a few of the locations where the corporate bucaneers who keep the prospective first couple living in such high style have their Third World workers toiling overtime:

Hieress doesn't mean you are involved with corporate decision making. Her former husband had a hand in the decision making that went into this, not John Kerry or his wife.

This is just another despicable attempt to spin something that is nothing.

Yo, Miss Bacpac: don't be so presumptious as to believe that any man on TT actually cares about any opinion you might have, any article you may cut and paste or about any thoughts you have overheard by someone with an actual brain. You are always welcome to post your nudie shots on Phil's page, but otherwise remain respectfully silent. If you look worth a shot, stratdewd will get back to you.

At least Kerry fought in Vietnam, and didn't buy his way out of it.

I think Bacpac-in-a-dress needs to take a closer look at the definition of hypocrisy.

Oh, and by the way, was her first husband a registered republican? Didn't these jobs go overseas while he was running the business? The world wants to know, bacpac. Go look up the facts.

The reader's digest version is that Kerry has been campaigning against the President saying that he is responsible for jobs being lost overseas. The reality is that Kerry's wife owns a company that does the same thing.

The reality is that foreign investment has been going on for years and is one reason our economy is doing so well. Kerry is feeding the masses exactly what they want to hear, not what is truthful or best for the country.

"The reality is that Kerry's wife owns a company that does the same thing."

bacpac - really, she owns the whole thing? does she run the company? does she have a say as to where plants open? Or, is she just a wife of a guy who ran it, and now collects stock dividends.

Please also note that Kerry is using his own bucks to try to stop this practice, at his own financial peril.

Guess what, i want to hear that I'll have a job, and so will my neighbor, that I won't have to pay off war debts for 30 years, that I won't have to be drafted to fight a unessacry war, that when I go hiking, trees will actually be in the forest, that when I breathe, it will be better for me than smoking.... etc., etc.

What a hypocritical bunch of nonsense, which MAT admits "herself"! "She" claims that Kerry is evil because his wife was once married to a republican who sent some jobs overseas, then claims that sending jobs overseas is all just fine and dandy. There is no slanderous lie that is too despicable for a rebublican to love and cherish. I vote we "outsource" Miss Ann Thrope! Surely a monkey banging away at a typewriter could make as much sense, and be less dishonest to boot!

What's the root of this feeling? Is it that she or him makes money? Strat and bacpac are on recorded saying that it's cool to phuck over peoplein the name profits when defending Bush, and they point out a possible money thang by Kerry?

As the indefensible nature of Bush's actions becomes more apparent, you can bet the attacks on Kerry will increase.

Obvious misdirection.

And some people are so dull or corrupt they will buy into it.

Twenty years ago when I lamented the loss of blue collar jobs to cheap foreign labor I was told to shut up and get with the information economy.

Now there is much wailing and gnashing of teeth over the loss of white collar jobs to cheap foreign labor.

Those same white collar people shed no tears for my union brothers and sisters, but when the axe fell on them..........

In light of the following story, I have forwarded the URL of this thread to the Kerry campaign to see what they want to do.

Judge: Abourezk can sue Web site

SIOUX FALLS (AP) — A federal judge has ruled that a lawsuit filed by former U.S. Sen. James Abourezk can continue against an Internet site that put Abourezk on a "traitor's list" for criticizing President Bush.

U.S. District Judge Lawrence Piersol denied a motion on Wednesday from ProBush.com to dismiss Abourezk's lawsuit. Abourezk, who was a Democratic U.S. senator from 1973 to 1979, accused the site of libel.

Abourezk sued last year after his name and photograph showed up on the list along with those of several others, including actress Susan Sarandon, Sen. John Kerry and Sen. Hillary Clinton.

Abourezk, who is seeking $2 million in actual damages, $3 million in punitive damages and a retraction, has been critical of the war in Iraq.

He was also part of a four-person delegation that traveled to Syria and Iraq in 2002.

In an interview last May, Abourezk's lawyer, Todd Epp, said the Web site can criticize the former senator's views but does not have the right to call him a traitor to his country.

Sinced I haven't looked intot he heinz company's holdings overseas, are they outsourcing manufacturing jobs or service jobs?

I don't honestly know in this case, but there's a difference between opening retail outlets and the like overseas and moving manufacturing jobs.
