Minor quake at 10:21 this morning just south of Camden, N.J.

Not felt in Philly, but over a wider area south and east of Camden.

It was 2.0 on Richter scale, just a tremor or aftershock in California.

More info from USGS

But Veteran's Stadium imploded yesterday, could it take that long to cross the Delaware River?

Bowlder, the first time I ever felt the Earth shake was when I had just gotten to the Philippines in the Army. I thought the world was coming to an end. It was a 3.2. A crappy little 3.2. I don't want to ever be in one of those 6.1's. Y'all can hog them all to yourselves!

Yeah, the next "big one" is due to be about 6 or so, but probably centered near where I live in the East Bay. Unlike the Loma Prieta 'quake (6.9-7.1, depending on which method), which was centered in a remote mountain area, this one will be centered right in a semi-densely populated area. We'll have lots of casualties. Our house will likely have a lot of cosmetic damage - the interior walls are lath & plaster - but its wood frame will probably save it from total destruction. However, a 6.0 'quake right under our toes will be darn scary!

Yes, we have our earthquake kit and other plans current!

Back in December I was in the 6.5 that hit California. It was my first real earthquake. It was pretty freaky to be on the 9th floor and have the building start moving. The biggest one before that was a 3.0 in New Jersey that was more sound than movement.

Interesting info about earthquakes. Looks like 2-3 a day at Mt. St. Helens, and there was a 7.5 in Northern Peru last night. Even Maine got into the act on Saturday night.

We had a 3.2 that woke us up at about 4:30 Saturday morning. I guessed 3.4 at the time - I need to sharpen my skills a bit, apparently.

Upstate NY seems to be overdue. The last quake I can remember was the 5.1 in Plattsburgh back in 2002. Generally there's at least one very small quake each year.
