That's very true scorchie.... Stormbringer slept like a baby in 12 degrees in Md. At least I assume that's what he was doing as the noises from his tent were kinda strange :o)

in erwin, tn, right now. yesterday was my 1-month-out anniversary AND my first 20 miler (hogback ridge shelter to no business knob shelter. 20.7 miles in under 11 hours). IVE LOST 20 POUNDS! and I STILL HAVE A GUT! but my face is thinner. knee is getting better, but still needs a brace. so many ppl to meet and hang out with, havent really got to spend much time with cricket. we've been leap-frogging each other lately. never can get in synch. thats ok. im having a blast anyway. on a constant adrenaline high. spent half of trailfest in hot springs drunk and/or high. im a lot stronger hiker now. can actually go uphill without stopping every 20 feet. everyone rags on me for carrying a bear can, but owell. theyre just jealous. lots more to tell, i guess i should go update trailjournals and y'all can read about it.

red hank is behind if he is still on the trail, its rumored pele dropped out, and just ran into dirtnap today for the first time since springer. he still had his crazy dogs with him. theyre mountain feists, and they are feisty. he had to skip the smokies cuz he couldnt afford the 250 bucks a dog to kennel them. dont blame him.

btw, im staying at miss janets tonight and tomorrow night. shes something of a legend on the southern AT. i always thought of her as a sweet little old lady, but the woman is a party animal. when i went to her campfire in hot springs, she was mixing long islands and shooting vegetables out of a homemade cannon.

dehydrated asian pears sounds good.

that reminds me of something funny. a few weeks ago, in a rather inebriated state, i kept trying to tell this thru-hiker named icebreak that my thermarest had a slow leak in it and kept de-flating, but all i could say was "my mattress keeps dehydrating"

Spoken like a true thru-hiker - always has food on his mind.

Asian pears it is! I will send a couple of bags off to the tree family. Eat them dehydrated, or rehydrate and add to oatmeal. Very yummy.

...Just saw this. Storm, I sent you a food package on Monday. It went to Damascus. You have about 6 or 7 good meals in there and it was only about 10 oz with the mailing bag. (The chili is real good!!!!) I will read your journal in the morning. Call when you can, Scott. Keep on rolling, man!

Had a chance to read the journals up to April 3, as Crash Bang entered. You sound great, Scott. The estimates for your arrival in Damascus is for the 27th (next Tuesday). That is where the food should be waiting. Good reports and try to let me know if the food pickup went according to schedule. I am working on your next batch currently...
