Gee, are the Yankees in last place?

Gorsh Mapes, I wore my Phillies hat up to MuttsWorld when the Fightins were in last place.

Hey Maple-Tree. I'm glad you are still going to make it. Not sure what happened with MarkO - but hope its all OK.

I was thinking of you, because I decided to pick up some barbecue from my favorite place (Blue Ribbon, Pete's is #2) for the party, I thought about doing Pete's, too, but they have a delivery charge of 25 bucks and we are probably out of their area anyway. Would have been fun to do the taste test. I was mostly going to get food from the neighborhood, but our neighborhood Q source is Redbones, and while it is very popular - it doesn't hold a candle to Blue Ribbon or Uncle Pete's.

The Bus leaves you at South Station (unless you are doing the Chinatown Bus) and we are right on the same subway line as South Station (Porter Square on the Red Line) - I can give you directions (we are 3 minutes from the subway) if you wish. We definitely have tent space in the yard for anyone wishing to pad their bag night stats!

Hello!!!

I will be in Staten Island Thursday night.

The boys and I will head for Scrape Scrod Friday morning.
There, we will toss WinterSolstice's joint.

Saturday we will pluck maple from the bus station in Southie......or maybe she will take the Red Line to Harvard Square, better yet.

Hurricane Janet flies back to Newton(Logan) for work Monday morning.
She will meet the rest of us in Cambridge on Saturday.

Maple - I just noticed the "(where ever the bus leaves me LOL)"

If you take a regular commercial Bus, the main Boston stop is South Station. The Chinatown Buses stop very near to South Station.

If there is anything I can help set up for you, please let me know.

I'll be hiking up in the Whites that day and will come by afterwards, so it's hard to say exactly when I'll arrive. I just hope I don't smell too bad. See you guys soon and looking forward to it.

Yeah... they both turned me on to Uncle Pete's - one of the best in the area. I even met Tree at Campmor in NJ to bring him a rack of ribs from Uncle Pete's.

I believe Amtrak takes you to South Street Station in Boston.

From there the Red Line goes across the Charles to Cambridge and Hah-vud Sqay-uh.

Parking No problem with parking. I'm putting in a request for an exemption for residential stickers for the day, but even if that doesn't come through, the Minister at the church across the Street (Hope Fellowship Church @ 16 Beech St.) has kindly agreed to let guests park in their lot for free. If you run into any Church people when you park, let them know how wonderful we feel they've been. They have loved these neighbors in wonderfully Christian tradition and our mixed (Christian-Jewish) household is grateful.

Bus/Subway: The main Bus station is at South Station (right next to the train station). Its 1/2 a block to the South Station subway (it's next to the train station... head to the right when you first face the the street - but best to follow signs). Take the Red Line to Porter Square (one stop past Harvard Square) and we are a two minute walk. I'll email some directions.
Maple: You're welcome to throw up a tent Friday. If it's only you, there might even be a bed or a couch... I haven't taken full inventory or talked to Ellen.

I'm really glad y'all are coming!

Pre-party Hike?
Hey, before the party, I'm going to hike up Cannon, and then maybe drive over to bag Waumbekin, if anyone wants to join me.

Both are relatively easy, and both are two of the White Mountains 48 peaks over 4k.

Drop me an e-mail if you're interested in either or both.

Maple - 10:30 - 11:30 is fine. I work a lot of 3-11:30 shifts at the hospital, so I never get to sleep before 11.

Tree - Party is 4 - 10pm, stay for as much of it as you wish.

ped, how far is your house from the station?
there are a number of buses I can take.
6:30 will get me into Boston at 10:50pm
if it is a long way, then I will get an earlier bus
5:30 will get me there at 9:50 pm
mapleleaf

The house is less than a five minute walk from Porter Square Station. Porter Square is about 12 minutes by subway from South Station (it might take 3 minutes to walk to South Station, and as much as ten minutes to wait for a subway). With time to ask for directions, I'd think it would be 30 - 40 minutes from the bus to my door.

Good summation, Ped! Dare I say, you remind me of a New Yorker! Just ask some directions in this town and you will get a 45 minute dissertation on how to get from uptown to the Battery in 16 minutes, using several methods, trains and possibly even triangulation!

Michael is going to be 13 next month. He loves video games and history. He could probably realign the priorities at the Pentagon, if given the chance.

As far as what he wants to do, he just wants to see some general sights in Boston. One of his major goals, for some reason, is to acquire a calendar up there. Not sure why, but it's an item he won't walk away without. Not a very tall order, in my eyes! Outside of that, making sure Mark-O doesn't fall alseep and get rolled while panhandling on the Commons will be my job...

Thanks, dude!

We could park it in Boston Saturday morning and walk the North End and see the Old North Church.

There is a self-guided tour......just follow the arrows on the side walks.

Fanniel Hall has all kinds of food possibilities and I'm sure we could find a whole raft of calenders at the various vendors there......even street musicians.
