Any opinions
I need to get a new sleeping back for late spring, summer, early fall use. I figure I need something in the 30-35 degree range. It needs to be down so it'll fit in my z pack. I was looking at the Marmot never winter, 1 lb. 15 oz, 30 degrees, $159 at campmor. Any opinions?

I'm very happy with my North Face Kilo 32F Down Sleeping Bag. I've had it for over a year now and I'm pleased with it. I don't suggest taking it below 40F though as I used it and a fleece bag together in 15F weather and was cold but not uncomfortable. ;-)

It costs about $150, but you can get it on sell for about $100.

how small does it compress, dub?

i wish on all these gear reviews and online stores and campmore catalogs would tell you how small they compress down to.

The review in the link above says 7.5”x15”, but it does compress smaller to about 7.5"x12"...When I switched to it from my old bag I could fit my rainjacket beside it in the sleeping bag compartment...I couldn't do that with my old bag.

FYI the Marmot Neverwinter's weight is inaccurate. Every one I have ever seen weighed was consistently close to 2lbs 4oz. Other then that it's a great bag. I'm guessing somewher down the line someone misplaced the much much more expensive Arroyo's weight (1lb 15oz) in for the neverwinter.

I have a Marmot Hydrogen 30 deg. that I'm very happy with. It squashes down pretty small.

Anyone have any experience with the EMS store brand bags?

Down, zero deg. rated, 3 lb 1 oz, 725 fill

The exterior cover is really lightweight, but I don't tend to sit by the fire in my bag or things like that.

Good price too - around 200 and change (due to a sale next Tuesday)

FWIW, Backpacker liked the 20 degree one (what don't they like?) but said it "lacked a few feathers" or something like that.

I saw the new ones in the Ft Collins EMS. Sure looked like a good bag.

What's the sale next week?

I'm taking a long look at the Mountainsmith Cypher - on sale at Snow Leopard Mountain Sports.

I was in EMS in Ft Collins last night.

The deal is on Dec 21, its 21% off anything insulated. They have a differnet "deal" every day this month.

I just bought the Mountainsmith bag that I referenced earlier. 225 bucks (normally 380) for a zero degree, 750 fill, 2 lb 10 oz bag.

i looked at that bag...let me know how you like it. I may want to get me one too.
I had the wisper (i think that's what it was called, it was the 15 degree bag) but returned it after i noticed that there was a lot of down missing. it was a warm bag though.

actualy, the catsmeow is 2.13...

NOTE: I'm not checking these stats, I'm just pullin them from memory.

I just looked at the EMS mountain light. My opinion is look at the fillweight of the down. I know its 750, but the ems website doesn't say how much they are puting in it. Find that out and then compair it to the mountain hardwear phantom 0 to see if they are just cheating on the down.

in they are playing fair ball, then it looks like a good bag. Down will last a long time no matter who makes it.
