I do research on a Hemostatic Bandage, contracted through the govt. It is composed of human clotting agents and can remain in place until it is degraded by the body. If some moron in combat gets shot, say through a major organ, another moron can slap this patch on and stop the bleeding. soon to be released to the public, it will help with those pesky steering columns through the chest wounds.

Boy Scout for 21 years and an adult volunteer for about 9 years now and I'm in my 5th year as a Scoutmaster. I've personally worked with over 400 kids teaching outdoor skills, leadership, ethical decision making and despite what some think, tolerance and respect.

Off and on I've worked for/on:
Habitat
Several local homeless shelters
The Jacksonville Zoo
Performed trail maintenance in GSMP, ONF ect. pretty much wherever I am.
Used to teach LNT
I engineered realistic four color process screenprinting on dark garments (you have no idea how revolutionary that was to the screenprinting industry)
I also make a pretty mean three egg omlette on the trail.”

If you are at some risk, or do that job at a substantially lower pay than market you have indeed served.

Otherwise you have a job.

As a volunteer I have;
- taught Hunter safety in NJ for 12 years.
- worked with Boy Scouts for 8 years.
- worked with Girl Scouts for 4 years (concurrent with other 2 above)
- coached soccer in the community
- treasurer for local pool in community
- provided first aid for community football games (1 broken neck)
- provided first aid at numerous auto accidents (~ 15 years)

I have a job too, but I get paid for that.”

My service is not military. Volunteer work includes:

Boy and Cub Scout leadership
A wide array of community service projects (clean-ups, blood,food, toy drives, Park maintenance for openers)
9/11 volunteer work handing out supplies to the first responders”

older brother: 21yrs., desert storm as well as many other non war tours in mideast. he is a hebrew linguist and flew AWAC over the mideast for 18 of his years.

younger brother #1: 17yrs and still in. desert storm, afghanistan and the front end of iraq. he is a medic and was assigned to expedetinary units for a bit.

younger brother #2: 4yrs and out.

The Military, Firefighters, and Police are "at some risk" every day to make things safer for me and my family.

I appreciate their sacrifice, and for some the greater sacrifice of their family when that risk kills or maims them.

When was the last time a "new bandage researcher" received an on the job injury that put them in a wheelchair for the rest of their life ?.”
