Feds Investigate UNC Teacher Over E-mail .

“An English class student at the University of North Carolina said he opposed homosexuality during a class discussion.

After the class, the Instructor, Elyse Crystall, sent an e-mail to students in the class criticizing the student, stating,
"What we heard Thursday at the end of class constitutes 'hate speech' and is completely unacceptable. It has created a hostile environment." She referred to the student by name, calling him "a white, heterosexual, christian male" who "can feel entitled to make violent, heterosexist comments and not feel marked or threatened or vulnerable."

Under pressure from the school, the instructor appologized to the class. But now Federal Office for Civil Rights are investigating whether the instructor's actions constituted harrassment.

Conservative students at the school recently have lamented that Democrats dominate academia.

Is a Federal investigation an over reaction or long overdue?”

However . . .I am equally passionately adamant regarding professors with agendas . . .as I expressed on another thread.

If, in fact, the student did not lash out in a hate filled, bigoted, threatening angry, violent way . . . .then the professor should be censured.

I would have been among the first in the class to jump on the student for being a Christian (just another myth, there is no god . .any rules that you promulgate based on a belief in a fiction are BS . ..eg pro-abortion, no god in the pledge, no god in government, stem cell research rocks, gays should be entitled to federal tax breask that come with recognized marriage) . ..both barrels . .level the guy. . .

but . . .making it an agenda of the professors is ridiculous . .feeling "threatened" by the free exchange of ideas???
