Great Customer Service!
Last week in Baxter I broke the lower section of my trekking pole. I was walking on a frozen river(yeah I know) and fell thru the ice. I landed on my trekking pole and snapped it. Luckily I hit the water and was out before I even got really wet.

Anyway I called Leki about getting a replacement and no questions asked they are shipping one right out! Now that is a Lifetime Warranty!

Just do not lubricate them! The only place i lubricate i s where the little orange thing threads on. Other than that i store them part so they dry.

That's great, LtHiker. As I told you on the trip, I had really good experience with Leki and their customer service area. They replaced a pair of alpine ski poles that were aluminum at the top 25% and carbon fiber the other 75% of the pole shaft. They replaced them without question.

Hiking without poles
All you pole freaks out there...have you ever tried to not hike with your poles after hiking with them for a long time? At Sipsey I tried...on a dayhike with my daypack it was no big deal...but when I hiked with my big pack to camp...I couldn't do it. It bugged the crap out of me not having the poles.

I can't find tighteners for mine. I looked at their web site and the type for my poles look like a cross between their older Expander System and the newer Easy Lock System. One of these fine nights I need to call them.

Dub I do most of my hiking in the ADKs. We have two directions to choose from while hiking, up or down. The poles have saved a lot of pain in my knees.

LtHike. A little advise. Don't ask a woman in a bar if she will help fix your Leki pole, unless you want to get slapped.

lumberzac-call them during the day. As I seem to recall, they were located somewhere around you...maybe Albany or Glens Falls area.

Actually, I think I'm gonna start leaving mine at home or in camp on dayhikes as long as I have my daypack. When I use my backpack as a daypack I'll bring them as my backpack restricts my movement.

But yeah, when I'm backpacking those things help out sooo much, especially going up and down hills and for tricky crossings, etc.

Well I called Leki and now I feel really dumb. Apparently my trekking poles are not Leki's, but Leki Sport's (written in the same font as Leki mind you) made by Climb High. WTF does this not seem like a trademark violation. So anyway the woman I spoke to at Leki was very nice and gave me the number for Climb High. The guy at Climb High was also very nice and is sending me two new expanders, but it's going to end up costing me $3. Oh well I guess that isn't too bad.

Once upon a time, in another Galaxy....
There use to be two Leki companys...Leki and Leki Sport. There was a rift between the two brothers that owned the original company and one brother started Leki Sport.

It seems that perhaps, Leki Sport, has sold out to Climb High.

They use materials from the same tubing company's for their poles...the only real different that I know of is the camming system. Personally I prefer Leki Sport cams...they expand both at the top and bottom. I have replaced the lower sections on my original Leki poles with the Leki Sport versions.

You really cant complain about $3.00..not a bad deal.

Hike without my poles....you can't be serious.

If God had meant for us to hike without poles, we wouldn't have hands to hold them with....

Thanks for the history lesson mtnsteve. You are right, $3.00 isn't bad at all for fixing them.
