Today i listened to air America Radio, the so called liberal radio network.I pick it up on XM and streaming on the comp. I love it. Much better than Rush "ludes" Limbaugh,Hannity, and all other so called conservative talk hosts. Ive had enough of years of calling global warming non existant, more snowmobiles in Yellowstone and pro big ass SUV talk on the radio. Air America doesnt worship and kneel at his feet. Rush is Dead. The same old republican crap is over.

I don't listen to Rush or Savage any more. Rush lost credibility with me and Savage is just too far out there and he's just in it for the shock value. Hannity is the best thing out there. He has more liberal guests and takes just as many liberal calls as he does conservative ones.

Excellent point U.P. It's people like USA that make me go to gun shows every chance I can. Every time I read something like USA's stuff I go shoot some guns and ride around in an SUV with friends or family. Did I mention that I also buy country music CDs by artists who sing about the US and the honor of being in the military? Sort of my own personal crusade to cancel out any efforts of the left. And the good thing is that there are many more just like me.

Franken's shtick shaky in liberal radio debut

By MARLON MANUEL
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 04/01/04

Comedian Al Franken, in his radio debut Wednesday as the self-proclaimed voice for liberals everywhere, pretended to lock Ann Coulter in a studio waiting room.
Comedian Al Franken's first radio show featured a sketch pretending to lock conservative commentator Ann Coulter, an obscure figure to most, in a waiting room.

If you don't think that's funny — or don't recognize Coulter as the political commentator who dismissed the heroism of Vietnam veteran Max Cleland and once said she regretted that Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh "did not go to the New York Times Building" — then you begin to understand why some doubt the show's chances for long-term success.

"There were some rough spots," said Michael Harrison, editor of Talkers magazine, a radio trade publication. "It sounded like a hodgepodge. I don't think that Ann Coulter is important enough a public figure to be relevant. They better have more than Ann Coulter jokes if they're going to be the self-anointed" voice for liberals.

In the first 30 minutes of his show, dubbed "The O'Franken Factor" in a jab at conservative Bill O'Reilly's "O'Reilly Factor" on Fox News, the former "Saturday Night Live" comedian also retreaded material skewering President Bush that he had used in recent weeks on "The Daily Show" ("By the time we get done with him, he won't be able to use anything from 9/11. The only footage he'll be able to use is him clearing brush.")

Trying to cross-pollinate the Comedy Central shtick with some DNA from National Public Radio, he conducted a phone interview with Al Gore and played host to 9/11 Commission member Bob Kerrey and moviemaker Michael Moore. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) is scheduled for today.

Giving national Democratic figures an unfiltered voice, he emulated the role Rush Limbaugh has played for Republicans since 1988.

But Limbaugh has an estimated 14.5 million weekly listeners, while Franken's three-hour show, anchoring the lineup of the new Air America network, opened on fewer than 10 stations, including outlets in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Portland, Ore. It was unavailable in Atlanta except through the Internet or XM Satellite Radio.

Limbaugh had a guest host Wednesday and did not address Franken's debut.

Eric Seidel, former station manager for WGST, the Atlanta home for Limbaugh, didn't hear Franken's show but had read accounts of his efforts.

Seidel doubted the viability of the Air America network, since it seems more bent on changing the political philosophies of listeners than establishing a product that would enrich and entertain.

"It sounds like there was some entertainment," Seidel said. "But the comedy sounds trite when you see it in print."

Franken didn't hide his broader ambitions. As he introduced the show — "broadcasting from an underground bunker 3,500 feet below Dick Cheney's bunker" — his voice deepened, as though he were opening "War of the Worlds," Orson Welles' classic radioplay.

So, Sticky, when gas is $3.00 a gallon are you more willing to send our 18 year olds to the middle east to fight for cheaper oil?

Where's our big sacrifice here while our troops are at war? In WWII there was rationing for everything from sugar to metal to gas. We just go along our merry way now and expect the rest of the world to maintain our lifestyle.

I would gladly get a hybrid as long as it was four wheel drive and had enough room in it. So far the one’s they’ve got out are just compact cars. Chevy is bringing out a big old work truck soon and Ford is bringing out an Escape soon too. But alas, I shall not drive a Ford.

Basically I guess I’m waiting for the hybrid Jeep. LOL! I never thought I’d give up my Cherokee but Jeep is coming out with a Liberty that has a four cylinder diesel in it that has the torque of a V8, the horsepower of a V6 and the mileage of a four banger without all the black smoke and loud engine.

What's your excuse for the 60s and 70s when almost all cars had V-8 engines and worse gas mileage?
And if we're going around attacking countries for their oil, I guess Norway and Venezuela better watch out, since they produce more oil than Iraq. Give me a break. Your statement lead's one to believe that rising gas prices will automatically cause soldiers to go to war, affirming the consequent

Volkswagen New Beetle,Jetta and Golf offer a 1.9L TDI diesel that gets 38 city 46 Hwy. Honda still does the best with the Insight which gets 60 City 66 Hwy. If you get an SUV or Truck the 6 bangers get much better mileage than the petrol sucking 8 cylinders. Unless you tow or haul why would you need an 8 cylinder?

Some lyrics for Rush, o'Reilly, Drudge, .... Bush? Rice? Rumsfeld? Perle? Wolfowitz? Cheney?

I won't ever leave if you want me to stay
Nothing you could do that could turn me away.
Hanging on anyway,
Believing the things you say -
Being a fool.

You've taken my life, so take my soul...
That's what you said and I believed it all.
I want to be with you
Long as you want me to
But don't move away...

Ain't that what you said?
Ain't that what you said?
Ain't that what you said?

Liar!
Liar, liar!

We have seen no night,
We have seen no day.
If I ever leave would you want me to stay?
You can believe in me
I won't be leaving,
I won't let you go.

Ain't that what you said?
Ain't that what you said?
Ain't that what you said?

Liar!
Liar, liar!

You've taken my life, so take my soul...
That's what you said but who are we to know?
I want to be with you
Long as you want me to
But don't move away...

Ain't that what you said?
Ain't that what you said?
Ain't that what you said?

might as well burn bio-diesel, we could be making a mode of transportation that uses COAL since that is really the new energy bill's goal. ooops not coal for transportation, ANWR. ooops, voting in the new energy bill would cause gas prices to go up 5 Cents in CA, sorry. But for the nation it would be SUCH a good thing. Watch CSPAN director's of energy admission. It's the TRUTH. great entertainment.

AIR AMERICA – TANGO UNIFORM IN LA AND CHI-TOWN

OK ... I put this last in today's notes .. but you know it had to be here. Air America, the much ballyhooed liberal talk radio network, is already on the ropes. Apparently they're bouncing checks.

Listeners in Los Angeles and Chicago, what few there were, tuned in to their favorite lib-talk host yesterday only to find some Spanish-language program on the air. The owner of the two stations reportedly kicked Air America staffers out and changed the locks on the doors. He waved a check to some members of the press .. purportedly from Air America and for over one million dollars .. which failed to clear the bank.

Air America, of course, is denying everything. They've even filed a complaint against the station owner who booted their shows.

Here's the key. What in the hell is Air America doing paying radio stations to air their programming? We don't. Rush doesn't, neither does Hannity. Is the liberal message so vapid and unappealing that these people actually have to pay stations to put it on the air?

Here's a little more information for you.

Jim Watkins is the program director for my affiliates in Naples and Ft. Meyers, Florida (WINK-AM and WNOG-AM). Several weeks ago he contacted the people at Air America to inquire about putting Al Franken somewhere on his radio station. Watkins remembered Al Franken from his Saturday Night Live days and felt that he might be entertaining and could draw an audience.

So ... Watkins gets an official from Air America on the phone. The Air America official asks Jim what other programs they carry. Jim starts rattling off the names. Boortz, Limbaugh, Savage .... At that point the Air America official says "Stop." He then informs Watkins that they won't allow their programming to air on WINK and WNOG. And why not? Because "We don't want our programming stained by being on a station that carries Rush Limbaugh."

Is that not amazing? Liberals are complaining that their voices aren't being heard on talk radio. They get a big donation from some liberal in Chicago .. and they set out to create a liberal talk radio network. At last, the liberal voice will be heard! Then they get a call from a radio station that wants to give these great liberal voices an audience in Southwest Florida .. and they say no! Why not? Because they don't want the same people to hear Rush Limbaugh listening to Al Franken. I wonder why that would be? Could it be because they know that their liberal message will not survive exposure to Limbaugh? Could it be that they know the liberal message only gets a foothold when there is nobody around exposing the lies, the half-truths and the complete lack of common sense and logic?

Air America ... destined to fail. Bad idea, bad management. Al Franken won't last till the election.

Air America restored in Chicago

By John Cook
Tribune staff reporter

In a rapid reversal of fortunes, Air America Radio won a temporary restraining order Thursday requiring the owner of its Chicago affiliate to restore the fledgling, liberal talk-radio network's broadcast, one day after it was thrown off the air in Chicago and Los Angeles.

"We've just won Round 1," said Evan Cohen, Air America's chairman. "Arthur Liu received a clear message: Temper tantrums are not the way to conduct business."

Cohen said the network expects to resume broadcasting Friday on WNTD-950 AM in Chicago.

Liu, whose Multicultural Radio Broadcasting Inc. owns Air America's Chicago and Los Angeles stations, pulled the network off the air in both markets Wednesday and changed the locks on the doors. He told the Chicago Tribune that Air America had bounced a payment check and owed Multicultural more than $1 million.

But New York state Supreme Court Judge Marylin G. Diamond found Thursday that Air America had fully paid for airtime in Chicago and ordered Multicultural to begin broadcasting Air America's programming again.

Air America remains off the air in Los Angeles, where it had been broadcast on Multicultural's KBLA 1580 AM.

A person answering the phone Thursday at Multicultural said the company had no comment.

The dispute between the two companies began Wednesday morning, when Multicultural employees kicked Air America staffers out of the Chicago and Los Angeles stations and began airing Spanish-language programming. Liu claimed Air America had defaulted on payments for airtime.

But Air America executives said they were withholding payments for the Los Angeles station because Liu had been "double-dipping," or reselling airtime that the network had bought and paid for, prior to the network's launch a little more than two weeks ago.

Cohen said Thursday that Air America is considering its legal options regarding the Los Angeles station and would be "doing something within the next 48 hours."

Diamond scheduled a hearing on Monday to get a response from Multicultural.

No matter how the dispute is resolved, it seems unlikely that Air America will continue to broadcast on Multicultural's stations. The public relations battle became personal very quickly on Wednesday, with Liu accusing the network of insolvency, and Cohen calling Liu "disgraceful and unprofessional."

"Is this a relationship we want to continue?" Cohen asked. "Over the next couple of days we're both going to be doing a lot of thinking."

Cohen said he is "exploring other broadcast options with a partner who is more responsible and mature."

What was that you were posting about this experiment failing, strat? They are up to 14 stations and plan to add 15 next month.
