“PHOTOS: http://community.webshots.com/album/131162595yMivgN I signed up last minute to do the "Vertical Cure" , a scleroderma fundraiser at Mammoth Mountain on Saturday, April 3, which challenges skiers to cover as many vertical feet as possible in one day. This year they had a "snowboarding" division, so decided (Fri afternoon) to do it. My goal was 32K and I doubled it! I finished 6th overall, 1st female, and 1st snowboarder.” 10:08:31 AM 4/06/04 10:09:49 AM 4/06/04 “WOW! 63,450' of vertical....you rock! I'd say you kicked some butt last weekend!” 10:12:16 AM 4/06/04 “It would be more impressive if you had hiked up for all that vert - anybody can ride a chairlift! hee hee :-)” 10:46:52 AM 4/06/04 Congratulations “Snow Nymph, my father died of scleroderma. So, your accomplishment has extra meaning for me. I know you've touched others as well. You should be very proud.” 8:55:17 PM 4/06/04 “Snow Nymph - You rock! Your photos rock! The Sierras rock! Nuff said.” 12:14:25 AM 4/07/04 “Ditto what Phil said!! Congrats, Snowy!” 12:42:13 AM 4/07/04 “Way to go! What a good thing you did there. You deserve that award, but that gain you pulled off is part of the reward too. I'm all smiles. Want something to stir the heart? Follow www.leukemiasurvivor.com for a bit and see what the human spirit is capable of. This is one man's blog. His heart wrenching story of enduring that disease. I can only hope to have half the strength that man has had given the same set of circumstances. Again, nicely done.” 1:03:03 AM 4/07/04 “Great Pictures SnowNymph!” 6:15:34 AM 4/07/04 “Congrats on your placements and the fund raiser. Are the pano's of Mammoth and the Ritter area taken from the ski run or another mountain. Great pics.” 10:30:03 AM 4/07/04 “jvz, the pano's are from the top of Mammoth Mtn. My legs were pretty tired, so I spent an hour walking around with the camera and tripod up there. Geezr, I never heard of scleroderma til my friend told me about it. The 2 guys organizing this event both have mom's with scleroderma and wanted to do something about it. So this Vertical Cure was their way. I'm still trying to find out how much they raised and get info to post. They did a great job, with videos of their mom's thanking everyone for participating, etc. This year I signed up the night before the event, so I just donated a little cash. Next year I will try to get sponsors (all those people that get me for girl scout cookies!) heehee! Hoping my legs recover before the weekend . . . going to Colorado to snowboard!” 11:05:02 AM 4/07/04
