“What I'm trying to figure out is, if I have the equipment to do this trip, I don't know if it is going to be an extreme hike. I have gaitors and a hammock and a bag good to 30-40 degrees... I'm mostly wondering if it is going to be wicked cold and wet out....or if the hiking will be wicked hard rock climbing or trails..... the adirondack one with redhawk sounds cool thru the all the gorge's too... I have all the stuff needed for mild spring and fall and all the summer weather, but as far as the colder weather stuff I'm working on that....”

HAHA no, its not that bad. nothing in Harriman could really kick your butt.
I think it would be more wet then cold. still a couple of weeks away. depending on how cold of a sleeper you are, i think a tarp would be fine

Its likely to range from 30 to 60 degrees.

I would take two layers for the bottom.....trousers and rain pants.

For the top....T-shirt, long undershirt, fleece jacket and rain jacket.

Light gloves and a wool cap completes the package......for me.

I have 15 degree mummies(3# 6oz) and 25 degree semi-rectangular(3#) down bags.
Either of those would do.

I like the semi-rec bag, it can zip open flat like a quilt.

The rain suit is light and effective against wind.”
