Since you're for John Kerry, why don't you share with me his greatest legislative achievement over 20 years in the U.S. Senate? Oh, you can't really come up with anything? OK then, why don't you just tell me one bill that he introduced and got passed ... or one policy initiative that he managed to get implemented?

I think Kerry's work on the Iran-Contra affair and BCCI shows that he's not afraid to go after extremely powerful people and expose criminals who would trade our security for a quick buck.

Support of Bush shows a complete lack of sense And integrity. He's your role model, after all... so I don't find it surprising.

The governor of Texas is the weakest state chief executive position in the US. He was a business failure also. Hmmmm! Some record.

Hell of a coke addict and boozer though!

Talk Radio Comes to Baghdad

In the surest sign yet that the U.S. liberation is beginning to have a lasting impact on Iraq's culture, Baghdad now has its own talk radio station - where callers are allowed to complain about anything as long as they don't incite violence.

"There are no Rush Limbaughs here - yet," reports Newsday. In fact, the station, dubbed Radio Dijla, has a rule for its hosts: Don't butt in with opinions.

Still, the rules don't seem to inhibit listeners from dialing in. So far, callers' most pressing issue is the lack of electricity, reports the station's founder, 34-year-old Ahmad al-Rikaby. And yes, there are complaints about life under U.S. occupation.

What about that U.S. media obsession, Abu Ghraib?

The Radio Dijla founder made no mention of the prison abuse scandal among his list of hot topics.

Instead, Baghdadis want to know why, for instance, if the U.S. can put a man on the moon and repair oil pipelines in record time, it can't provide air conditioning to counter the city's 100-degree heat?

Another big difference from its American cousins: Radio Dijla is forced to operate under intense security. Guards standing behind sandbags protect the station, while al-Rikaby keeps a submachine gun nearby just in case.

Most of the station's talk jockeys are young women with little radio experience. They listen patiently as callers flood the phone lines - "18,000 attempted calls on its two lines every day" - says Newsday.

Numbers like that suggest that Iraqis are eager to take advantage of their newfound freedom.

Before the liberation, talk radio in Baghdad was limited to al-Shabab Radio, run by Saddam's murderous son Uday. Callers were allowed to discuss only love and poetry, but anti-government talk was strictly forbidden.

Are you daft?
He had a record of putting power in the hands of business.
That is just a form of bribery, much like what he's now doing on a national level.

I read about how there was a woman on death row in Texas who had a jailhouse conversion. She made a tearful plea to then Gov. Bush.

An eyewitness leaked out the story of he sat around with aides, mocking and laughing (howling) at the videotape of this tearful plea. He then had her executed. Kinda gives you the creeps.

Jun. 16, 2004 – Massachusetts senator John Kerry could carry the state of West Virginia in the 2004 United States presidential election, according to a poll by Zogby Interactive published in the Wall Street Journal Online. 46.6 per cent of respondents would vote for the prospective Democratic nominee, while 43.5 per cent would support Republican incumbent George W. Bush.

Kerry With Slim Lead In Florida

Jun. 16, 2004 – The state of Florida remains a key battleground in the 2004 United States presidential election, according to a poll by Zogby Interactive published in the Wall Street Journal Online. 49.5 per cent of respondents would vote for prospective Democratic nominee John Kerry, while 47.9 per cent would support Republican incumbent George W. Bush.

Independent candidate Ralph Nader garners the support of 0.6 per cent of respondents.

This has to be causing the Bush campaign great con
Eighty-five million is what President Bush spent on a 90-day advertising blitz that ended last Sunday with the aim of inflicting a serious, perhaps mortal, wound on his Democratic opponent. This "spring offensive" was unusual in its early timing, its aggressiveness and its use of the president personally to attack Sen. John Kerry's ideology and credentials.

But public anxiety over Iraq's mounting casualties and questions about Bush's competence on the international scene apparently overwhelmed the Republican blasts. A new Washington Post-ABC News poll shows Kerry pulling even with Bush on the question of which man is most trusted to deal with the terrorist threat. In April, the president held a commanding 13-point lead on that question. Bush strategists had expected terrorism to be their best election-year weapon.

On Iraq, the poll found 47 percent saying that the war was worth fighting. But 52 percent said it was not, the highest level yet measured.

In an early ballot test, Kerry led Bush 48 to 44 percent among registered voters, with 6 percent for Ralph Nader. Without Nader, Kerry's advantage grew to 8 points. Bush's overall job-approval rating remained relatively low, at 47 percent.

Moreover, Kerry was seen as more honest and trustworthy by a wide margin -- 52 to 39 percent -- reflecting the impression held by half of the electorate that Bush misled the nation to war.

Altogether, that's not encouraging news for the man from Crawford, Texas. Most successful incumbents have had, at this point, double-digit leads and job-approval ratings well above 50 percent. A low proportion of undecided, persuadable voters also works against the incumbent.

What's really funny is Washington state is considered a "battleground" state by the Bushies. He will get trounced here. If Bush believes he can win Washington state, it explains a lot about his strange "beliefs".

Rasmussen Reports

July 12, 2004--If the Presidential Election were held today, Senator John Kerry would win 254 Electoral Votes, President George W. Bush would win 197 Electoral Votes.

254 ain't enough to win... Who gets the rest of 'em?

Thier electoral count swings wildly anyway. There tracking poll seems to be the most stable though.

We really should do away with the Electoral College process, it does often negate the individual vote.

87 Electoral Votes would be in the toss-up category.

Latest Zogby analysis at the Wall Street Journal:

Kerry: 322
Bush: 205

Excludes Tennessee's 11 electoral votes and presumes that the 34 non 'battleground' states vote as they did in 2000.
