BAGHDAD, Iraq (MNW)- The White House released today the number of troops in Iraq will be increased in an attempt to bring the country under complete control. "The insurgent force has shown we need to increase our efforts. This will require a greater military presence." said our source speaking on the condition of anonymity.

If we went in there in the first place with proper troop force, this would be a non-issue and we would be leaving in June.

The point never was to make a democratic, peaceful Iraq (although that was a fairly noble ancillary goal). The goal was to insert US power in the heart of Arabia. That goal we achieved handily. As soon as we hand over the gov't to the Iraqis, we can safely garrison our troops and let the Iraqis fight it out. Having power in the region is what is fighting terrorism - not some pipe dream of a Westernized Iraq.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- More than 800 former soldiers have failed to comply with Army orders to get back in uniform and report for duty in Iraq or Afghanistan, the Army said Friday. That is more than one-third of the total who were told to report to a mobilization station by October 17.

Three weeks ago the number stood at 622 amid talk that any who refused to report for duty could be declared Absent Without Leave. Refusing to report for duty normally would lead to AWOL charges, but the Army is going out of its way to resolve these cases as quietly as possible.

Sound familiar to the G.W. Bush record?
