If you organize a hike you're responsible for making sure it doesn't rain, so get to work. I suggest seeding the clouds on Thursday while they are well west of where we'll be hiking so that they rain out before they get there.

Maybe if we all think about it hard enough we can make this rain stop!

I don't know exactly the areas you will be in, but remember this Saturday May 1 is the opening day of the spring gobbler season in PA.

Mt. Penn in Reading is always famous for diverting weather systems. Maybe Mt. Penn will divert the wet systems south of Reading and we will have sunny skies the entire time.

No Rain omma gomma omma bumba sunshine somba nomba moonlight bomba maromba.

Yeah, we should be fine.

I won't know until the last minute, but I might be dropping in ya's Saturday sometime. One thing confuses me though:

"We'll then shuttle some cars to the Pinnacle and start our hike there."

Ummmmm, Scorchy.... you hiring a heli to airlift cars up to the Pinnacle?

Ok.. I'm assuming you mean to shuttle cars to one of the trailheads that lead to the Pinnacle. Which one though? If I remember correctly, there are several ways to get up to the Pinnacle.
Pennsy

DOH! Yes, I meant the trailhead that leads to the Pinnacle,.. although I didn't know there was more than one...

I think there are a few places to park near Blue Rocks CG, where there is the Blue Rocks Trail and the Pinnacle Trail. There is also parking on Reservoir Rd near the Hamburg Reservoir where you'd get on the AT.

Hmm.. I don't see Reservoir Rd on the map I have for some reason. Maybe I'm blonde,.. I mean blind.

I guess we can all meet at Blue Rocks CG and take the Pinnacle Trail up to the AT.

lotsa luck Roam. You'll need it. ;o)

Reservoir Road ends at a gate near the Windsor Furnace Shelter. Isn't that near where you're camping Fri night?

One other thing I noticed. You're leaving a car(s) at the Sanctuary when you shuttle Sat morning? You might want to check if overnight parking is ok, unless you meant to overnight park somwhere else.

Yes, good luck with me, Roam. I'm not very good with directions ; ) JK.

ah! ok, that makes more sense,,,,

but why would we be disappointed?

maybe though, if it's only 1600 ft, it was embarrased and went to hide for a while?

Is THAT where it went, and now it's got its confidence back?

I have parked at Blue Rocks CG ($) and at AT/Port Clinton. I have hiked on the AT past the Eckville shelter and I know there is parking on that road. Most people who hike up to the Pinnacle park at the Reservoir, I have never done that.

Yes, that's Fri night but that's not where we're going to park the cars... I figured we can meet at Hawk Mt.'s visitor's Center only because it's not hard to find. Then we can figure out where to park the cars. I don't think it will be a problem for us to leave some of the cars there and then shuttle down to the Pinnacle Trail.

As far as water resources go.. I don't remember ever seeing anything on the Hawk Mt lands, but I see "Gold Spring" on the map right a little bit past the Pinnacle.... I haven't been to that part of the AT so I'm not sure.... Pennsy? Bobo?
