Trail days 2004

“As the weeks grow shorter it is almost a month till we have the trail days celebration. Who is going there on Thurs...and who will be there on Friday?”

“I'm a Friday arrival, prolly kinda late in the day.”

“I've been before and yes it is worth it. At least I think so. Lots of vendors selling some gear really cheap. Food, drink, dance. The parade!! the water fight!!! Yupp, I think it's worth going!

jerbear, bitpusher, binks....they went last year.”

“jerbear, gem and bit all talk highly of this...and i hear that the gear reps will fix and replace parts of their gear if you bring it in to them....i'm thinking of going this year...any place that makes jerbear mayor of the town can't be all bad”

“I just found out OPIE will be in Charlotte until May 14th! We both still want to go but it is out of his way to drive back to Nashville to pick me up. The cheapest one way airline ticket I could find is $150.00. Is there anyone that is driving to Damascus from the south that I could catch a ride with???? Or any suggestions as far as airline tickets???”

“Oh I will be riding back with OPIE so if I can ride with someone it will only be one way! I will pay for the gas!”

“That is why I am posting clem. There isn't anyone signed up so far from Nashville or south.”

“I am sure someone from the nashville area will sign up. remember bink will most likely have his store up there.”

“Yeah but I'm sure he will go earlier than Friday the 14th and I can't leave until then.”

“If I could only find a one way ticket to Charlotte less than $100.00. I'm not being too picky am I? If only SW flew to Charlotte. They have a one way flight to Raleigh for $68 but its out of the way.”

“A bus or train maybe?”

“thanks for the suggestion stovestomper. i just checked greyhound and its a 10 hour trip and amtrak is a 15 hour trip!”

“If I had the time I would do it just for the price, but I have to work on Friday.

And I HAVE to go! Not only is it traildays, but its Randy's birthday and I won't get to see him until then!”

“Heck, with all that perdiem OPIE's getting on company travel, he should buy you a airline ticket. I would in his shoes. ;-)”

“Rox, since Opie will be in Charlotte and you live there, you can take him out for his birthday instead of Miss Opie. I am sure she won't mind ;)”

“Miss Opie...on May 14th I'm driving from Huntsville to Erwin, TN. At least that's the plan for now. I'm meeting another hiker in Erwin for a 5 day AT trip. Check out Erwin on the map to see if that would be any help.”

“I really would like to see her come with us on the hike..hey Ewker are you coming to Lost cove.. you could pick her up?”

“If anyone is going, be on the the lookout for "Saffron", my college friend who's thru-hiking hte AT this summer. She said she should be there for Trail Days.”

“It sounds good to me MDS, Damascus is only 60 miles from Erwin, TN. As long as OPIE is ok with driving there to pick me up, I'm in!”

just find out if mds can go through nashville...i can make erwin easy...i can leave work around lunch or so on friday..just let me know what i have to do...it will be done...hehe one plus of this long stay...i'll be a diamond VIP member of the hilton club...i think i get a free 5 week stay at a hilton 5 star or resort...Bwahahahaha”

“I was planning on the trail days this year, but I just found out I have to get caps on a couple of teeth. Gonna be expensive (no dental coverage :( )

So that might impact my plans, not sure yet.”

“I'll be going. I'll head to Erwin for some hiking between the 9th and 12th, then on the 13th I'll drive up from Erwin to Damascus. I have empty seats if someone needs a ride.”

“The North Country Trail Association is putting on a Trail Maintenance seminar on May 8th and 9th (Sat & Sun) at Moraine State Park in W PA, if anybody's interested.

Check May 8 in PA
Trail work Training at Davis Hollow Outdoor Center, Moraine State Park- cabin ($5), or tent camping at Five Points Group Camp
