How to get on your family's good sideView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 42 of 42 messages posted.
Friday night dinner “Friday evening, my family came home to me making Bacon-Wrapped Barbecued Shrimp, steaks, and potatoes. That will definitely get them on your good side. recipe: 20-30 large shrimp, peeled and deveined 1 lb hickory-smoked bacon Your favorite barbecue sauce Cut the pound of bacon in half, across the strips. Wrap each shrimp in a half-piece of bacon, and skewer them, 6-8 to a skewer. I do this operation one at a time, using the skewer to hold the bacon on. Place the skewers of bacon-wrapped shrimp on a charcoal or gas grill, and coat liberally with your favorite barbecue sauce. Turn frequently to keep them from burning. Cook for about 30 minutes, or until shrimp is firm and no longer pink. (Like you're supposed to be able to see that, right?) Remove from skewers and serve. Bask in the appreciation of your family.” 2:37:34 PM 4/12/04 “I've only had bacon wrapped scallops. Never tried it with shrimp before. Sounds good.” 2:39:38 PM 4/12/04 “Think the recipe would work with pet bird too?” 2:41:51 PM 4/12/04 “Ummm...stupid question here since I'm not Emeril... Do you discard the bacon? I know it's for flavoring so you discard it right?” 2:41:56 PM 4/12/04 “It's unbelieveable. You can just barely still taste the shrimp. Yummy.” 2:42:31 PM 4/12/04 “Well, MDS, my son does, but the rest of us go ahead and eat it bacon and all...” 2:44:02 PM 4/12/04 “ohhh..I found a wonderful recipe for Vidalia onions yrs ago....you slice them about an inch and wrap them in bacon and pit them on foil....sprinkle them with some olive oil & balsmic vinegar and wrap them in the foil and grill them...they are soooo good!!!! Bit.....when are you inviting me to dinner......I'll bring a nice cheesecake with this wonderful Plum wine that a friend introduced me to......mmmmmmm” 2:45:50 PM 4/12/04 Bit! “What? No Lard?” 2:46:54 PM 4/12/04 “OK, was just wondering if the bacon gets done enough to eat since shrimp don't take very long to grill. Sounds like a good recipe!” 2:47:23 PM 4/12/04 “Gotta talk to my wife first, lol...” 2:47:34 PM 4/12/04 Treebeard “What do you think bacon is? lol...” 2:48:06 PM 4/12/04 “Yeah, but I thought that the bacon might not have enough lard in it for you! :)” 2:48:56 PM 4/12/04 MDS “The first time I made this, the shrimp didn't really get done, so I probably left it on too long this time. Everything was done, although the bacon varied from crispy to chewy. But it was all done.” 2:49:43 PM 4/12/04 Sad but true fact “I do not have lard at home...never have used it for real. I keep thinking about getting some and making biscuits with it though...” 2:50:31 PM 4/12/04 “Another recipie for Vidalia onions: Take a large Vidalia, scoop out a pit in the top a little larger than a cube of bullion. Add one cube and fill the rest of the hole with water. Wrap in foil and stick on the grill or in the oven. Yum.” 2:50:33 PM 4/12/04 “Just messing with you, Bit. Actually, I have had these before, with shrimp and, more commonly, with scallops. They are really tasty...” 2:51:37 PM 4/12/04 “I LOVE onions...mmmmmmm” 2:53:18 PM 4/12/04 “Those sound really good too, Divinity. i love vidalias!!!” 2:54:20 PM 4/12/04 “I can eat onions like normal people eat apples.” 2:56:32 PM 4/12/04 “I love to fry potatoes and onions....mmmmmmm” 2:59:41 PM 4/12/04 “Shrimp and scallop scampi with fresh asparagus and homemade hollandaise sauce works pretty well too! The strawberries in port over french vanilla doesn't hurt either.” 3:00:19 PM 4/12/04 “Hey Div, that is my speciality!” 3:02:16 PM 4/12/04 “Nothing better than while camping cooking up some taters & onions.....mmmmmmmmmm” 3:03:32 PM 4/12/04 “Ok who is now hungry after reading this thread?” 3:07:05 PM 4/12/04 Hey, Divinity “Have you ever thought about cooking up some potatoes and onions? 3:09:01 PM 4/12/04 “Only if it has troll meat in it.” 3:09:40 PM 4/12/04 “My smile got lost on the last post! :)” 3:10:28 PM 4/12/04 “Troll meat, does it taste like chicken?” 3:11:19 PM 4/12/04 “Yep, sure does.” 3:11:44 PM 4/12/04 “Yum!” 3:12:21 PM 4/12/04 “If you can actually catch a troll and cook it, I understand it is quite satisfying...” 3:12:29 PM 4/12/04 “Who should we start with? Should it be sauted, fried or put on the grill? With special sauce!!” 3:14:00 PM 4/12/04 “I had one once. Best damn meal I have ever had. If I was on death row, I would ask for this as my last meal. Actually I would ask for something alcoholic, but I wouldn't get it.” 3:14:17 PM 4/12/04 “Skewered on a spit and slow roasted over and open fire...” 3:14:29 PM 4/12/04 “The one I had was raw.” 3:15:35 PM 4/12/04 “What kind of wine do you serve with troll meat?” 3:15:59 PM 4/12/04 “BEER!” 3:17:20 PM 4/12/04 “ ”3:18:55 PM 4/12/04 “What kind, a pale ale, lager, stout...” 3:19:31 PM 4/12/04 “I had an Anchor Steam with mine.” 3:24:35 PM 4/12/04 “ohhh..I found a wonderful recipe for Vidalia onions yrs ago....you slice them about an inch and wrap them in bacon and pit them on foil....sprinkle them with some olive oil & balsmic vinegar and wrap them in the foil and grill them...they are soooo good!!!! divinity 02:45:50 PM I just bought the balsmic vinegar the other night to try thiss one out!” 1:40:08 PM 4/14/04 “ohhh..I found a wonderful recipe for Vidalia onions yrs ago....you slice them about an inch and wrap them in bacon and pit them on foil....sprinkle them with some olive oil & balsmic vinegar and wrap them in the foil and grill them...they are soooo good!!!!
