Your right her accent isn't that bad at all, but you have to know what to listen for, it took me a moment to process that I was listening to a German accent.

People can't understand a British accent either.

What? Brits are easy to understand it's the absurd butchering of our language that's hard to understand;) They're called french fries you nuts not chips, and so forth. Also what's with the atrocious spelling with all the "ou"'s and such?

Now Scot's, I have no idea what the hell language they're speaking.

true, you do have to know what your listening too to "translate" the accents.

Scots are the worst, followed by Brits and then Nor'easters.

In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina
Can't you see the sunshine
Can't you just feel the moonshine
Maybe just like a friend of mine
It hit me from behind
Yes I'm goin' to Carolina in my mind

Karen she's a silver sun
You best walk her way and watch it shinin'
Watch her watch the mornin' come
A silver tear appearin' now I'm cryin', cryin'
goin' to Carolina in my mind

There ain't no doubt it no one's mind
That loves the finest thing around
Whisper something soft and kind
And hey babe the sky's on fire, I'm dyin'
Ain't I goin' to Carolina in my mind

In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina
Can't you see the sunshine
Can't you just feel the moonshine
Maybe just like a friend of mine
It hit me from behind
Yes I'm goin' to Carolina in my mind

Dark and silent late last night
I think I might have heard the highway callin'
Geese in flight and dogs that bite
Signs that might be omens say I'm going, going
I'm goin' to Carolina in my mind

With a holy host of others standing around me
Still I'm on the dark side of the moon
And it seems like it goes on like this forever
You must forgive me
If I'm up and gone to Carolina in my mind

In my mind I'm gone to Carolina
Can't you see the sunshine
Can't you just feel the moon shinin'
Ain't it just like a friend of mine
To hit me from behind
Yes I'm gone to Carolina in my mind
Gone to Carolina in my mind
Then I'm on to Carolina in my mind
Gone to Carolina in my mind
I'm gone
Say nice things about me
'Cause I'm gone south y'all
Carry on without me
'Cause I'm gone

I can understand the Irish no problem even with the thickest accent. It's the Scots that are the problem some of them seem to be talking gibberish.

I made it back last night. I finally looked at my legs and arms. They are as bad as everyone elses. It was a great trip.

I will hike with that group anytime. Just have to keep Socks pointed on the right trail.

so...
so how was it?! i just stumbled across this thread while looking for info on trail conditions along the black ridge. five years ago i hiked up colbert’s ridge to deep gap and, from there, attempted a day trip out to celo knob and back. i got distracted by too many things along the way, however (it was a rare cheerful sunny day) and never quite made it to celo before turning back. but i’ve been trying to get back there ever since, which, living in michigan, has been difficult.

after getting rained and fogged out in 2000 and 2001, i started to think that october might be a drier time to visit, and i hoping to go this year. so...any news on the state of things? i expect it to be messy, after dealing with colbert’s and winter star and all that. but i hope y’all made it back okay!
