Does it seem the more you look at photos between Canon lenses and Nikon lenses, the more you get a sense of the difference between the two.

All things being equal between the two in settings, there's a difference in digital quality or image reproduction. There's something unique about Canon DSLR lenses. Can't put my finger on it. Yet.”

“Dunk, I bought a Canon 100-300mm USM zoom on e-bay and it works just like it would on a 35mm Rebel. It has AF with full time manual focus too... so you can reach up and tweak the focus anytime you want or flip the switch and go fully manual...just like any other Canon EOS camera.”

To answer your question it uses compact flash memory cards so as much as you buy that's how much memory it has.”

It doesn't come with any memory.
So you have to buy a compact flash card yourself....I already had two 256 MB cards...but I would like to get one of those high speed 1 Gig cards sometime ;)

I can get about 75 photos from the 256 card at the highest JPG setting, you can also shoot in RAW format more info/less pics.

Dunk...it will go full manual you can set everything...it even has a depth of field preview button. Also you can do aperture priority or shutter priority. There are very few differences between the D-Reb and my Nikon 35mm.”

“Tango - I'm assuming you mean Broadway Photo in NYC? There are a few dealers in NYC that are absolute rip off artitst. I really don't want to bad mouth a company without knowing for sure, but Broadway sure rings a bell with me.

Some of these places will advertise great prices, but the fun starts when you try to order. Shipping costs will be outrageous, and when they say body only, they mean body only. You won't even get a battery or charger that comes standard everywhere else.

I'm not saying Broadway fits in this category, but I always get suspicious when a price is quite a bit lower than the top competitors. I pretty much order all my camera gear from B&H Photo or Adorama in NYC, both very reputable companies.

Another thing to look out for is "imported" or "gray market." You can get an imported camera or lens cheaper, but the warranty is shorter and heaven help you if you need any repairs once the warranty has expired. I made the mistake of ordering a very expensive "gray" lens a few years ago. A week after the 1 year warranty expired, I dropped it. Even though I was willing to pay for the repair, absolitely NO ONE would touch it, including the big boys Adorama and B&H.

I highly recommend always buying gear with a USA warranty. Some of these rip-off places will send you gray market stuff without even asking. Always make sure IMO.

I like Adorama. I can't remember who else I've used that I like, I'm at work and my faves are at home. Mostly I wanted to illustrate how the price is already dropping.”

Another outfit that has a great reputation is Roberts, in Indiana. I don't have the link though. B&H has the digi rebel with that lens for $929. Of course, I'd go with Nikon though. ;o)”
