Death and Taxes both suck!
Seeing I missed my weekly "survivor reminder" I figured I could remind everyone today is tax day....
Don't forget to submit :-)

CRAP!
Thanks for reminding me! I forgot all about it!

Damn, I really wish that there was some sort of reminder of this for people, kinda like when they do the time change.

Didn't I already do them last year?

I was late for work because it took me over 2 hours of fighting with my computer to print out my Ga state taxes. Since I'm an out of state resident they would not allow me to electronically file. Bastards. I am finally motivated to upgrade my 4 year old computer though!

Thakfully, they were done weeks ago. I waited until yesterday to send them in because I owed a little.

Technically you don’t have to pay taxes, but the alternative that the government gives you isn’t very pleasant.

Delay them long enough to close out that tax year. Might be 25 years from now, but sooner or later.

http://fairtax.org/
The current Federal income tax system is broken. Patching up the existing code is pointless. It's time for a fresh approach, a fair approach.
It's time for the FairTax.

Simply put, the FairTax replaces the way we're currently taxed - based on our annual income - with a tax on goods and services. The FairTax is a voluntary “consumption" tax: the more you buy, the more you pay in taxes, the less you buy, the less you pay in taxes.
It's simple.

Everyone pays their fair share of taxes, and with the FairTax rebate, spending up to the poverty level is tax free. The Federal government is fully funded, including Social Security and Medicare, and you don't need an expert to determine your Federal taxes.
It's simple.

So, strat, what you are saying is that the guy who makes $40K basically has to spend it all to live (wife, two kids) so he is taxed on all his income.

The guy who makes $450K however, is moving a considerable chunk to investments so we only tax part of his income.

Screw that,

It is easier. Give every individual, man woman and child a flat $7500 deduction from gross income. Tax the remainder at 10%.

So, the guy with a wife and two kids makes $40K. He gets a deduction of $30K ($7.5K x 4) and pays $1000 bucks in taxes.

The guy making $450K (wife two kids) pays $42K in taxes.

No schedules, no wild deductions, just straight calculation.

Then take all those people at IRS who already enjoy screwing with people and turn them loose on the large corporations.

actually chili, investments are spending as well and would be taxed, as i understand it, i could be mistaken. also, they don't tax low income families....

however, a flat tax would be cool too. much better than the current clusterphuck we have. it would do away with all the loopholes that rich people squirm through.

guess who is the most against it though?

yup, democrats. sorry, sad but true....

jam niight, gotta loosen up me digits. screw politics, it's time to play the blues.....LATER!

Strat, people don't use real money to buy things, they use credit. Thus, taxing spending would drive this consumer economy into the tank. Value added tax, however, adds price to all consumer item at the source, but it too would lead to the tank.
The only fair tax would be an extremely high tax on freeze dryed food and sleeping bag liners.
