Tucson Weekend
Flew out to Tucson, Arizona with Trailtrekker. While there we visited the Biosphere2, day hiked Tanque Verde Peak, a 18 round trip and checked out the Sonora Desert Museum. We stayed at the Westward Look Resort (nice place) big change from the usual backpack or car camp thing. Photos at http://community.webshots.com/user/mtflyer2001

That is a great museum. I really like the Tucson area, from about Nov-March that is!

Great pics (as usual). Some of those cloud shots were really nice! So you like cactus! Great album.

It’s been about 25 years since I been to Tucson. The main thing I remembered about the place was the saguaros. Was hoping to get a saguaro sunset shot, but we just weren’t in the right place at sunset. Great area, hope to be able to get back out there one of these days. We needed a few more days to get in all of the stuff that we wanted to do. Thanks Phil for posting the link, wish I could figure out how to do that.

Hey cool, nice pics. I am so excited. We leave for Arizona in less than 2 days How much time did you/can you spend at the biosphere? Are there scheduled tours?

I visited the Biosphere, perhaps in 1992 or 1993, when people were living inside for a year at a time. It was phenomenal.
I'll have to go back again now that you can go inside!
Their site says they have daily tours from 9 to 4. Doesn't say how much it costs, or how long the tour is. I would imagine you can spend as much time outside it as you'd like. At least that's how it was when I was there years ago.

Biosphere
They have a web site for the Biosphere, here is the address www.bio2.com you'll find all the info there. The tour was about an hour, but you can spend all the time you want on the outside. The cost was $20, we thought it was a bit too much for what was there. The Sonora Desert Museum was only $12 and we enjoyed it more. We just wished we had more time there, but we had to catch our flight home. I would recommend the Desert Museum to anyone who is in the Tucson area. Give yourself at least five hours to check it out.
