Ok, Sacco.

Mapleleaf is my wife and Twignut is my daughter. Someone dubbed us the Tree Family a while back and it sorta stuck.
My son has the name of landstalker, but he seldom, if ever posts. He's 11 and Twig is 16. That should cover it...

what is a pole barn?
mapleleaf
12:14:26 PM
4/23/04

A storage structure with a roof but no walls, only supporting poles for the roof, hence the term "pole barn"...
bitpusher

4/23/04

it's a building supported by posts or poles rather than the entire outter wall. it makes it easier and cheapier to build because you don't need to pour foundations around the whole perimeter - just under the poles.
most barns are built this way nowadays. you can't really tell from the outside.
sacco

bit - they can have walls, like mine will, they just don't have any loadbearing walls.

What doesn't get talked much about was the brief love affair that Mapleleaf and I had in the era of FreeLove. It was 1971, Mapleleaf lived in Lansdale, PA and was a mere Maplesprout. I lived in Warminster, PA and was a lonely Private Bobo. We were both 6 years old and hit it off one day playing doctor in a tent in my backyard. Alas, in the coming years, Maple moved to New Yawk and I was sent away to juvenile correction - This is where I met Treebeard. I told him about my Childhood Sweetheart and showed him a picture. Treebeard slipped me a chloral hydrate in my milk at lunchtime, stole Maplesprout's picture, escaped juvey, headed to New Yawk, and the rest, as they say... is history.

I hold no grudges against the Treepeople as time heals all wounds, not to mention I stole Treebeard's Roberto Clemente baseball card one day when he wasn't looking. All in all, I'd say it was a fair trade.

sure bit, i really didn't know either until i started looking into building this barn.
i was surprised to find out that most of the newer barns you see are all actually pole barns - you just can't tell from the outside.
