I was nervous ordering without being able to touch/feel try-on this pack, but ordered from REI anyway thinking I could return it if I didn't like it.

My first impression is that this pack exceeds all my expectations! I was worried that, at 2 lbs., it wouldn't have much in the way of padding on the hipbelt, or on the shoulder straps, both seem great! Can't wait to load up my gear & get out for a weekend... this is a great looking pack, I'm glad I didn't jump at the Gregory Z pack.

Hmm... a lighter pack... Can I rationalize it?

Get it out and let us know how it does.

I'm looking at the Vapor Trail also, for the times I'm carrying my 'heavy' 20-30# loads.
For my usual sub 20# loads, my GoLite Day or Breeze backpacks do great.
Please keep us updated on your use of it and report any plus or minuses.

I have the also, got it from Binks last month. I really like this pack alot. I took it on the Frozen Head trip 3 weeks ago. I had 20-25 lbs and it never was a problem. I like its stripped down features like the 2 side stretchy pockets, roll-top closure, and the compression system. Mine does have the inside pocket for a hydration system which I use. For the wieght/price it is a good value and looks like it will hold up great.

karo, are you carrying water bottles in the side pockets or just a bladder? I haven't even tried to get a water bottle in there yet!

I didn't take along a water bottle, but have tried a nalgene and it fits even if the pack is full.

The bottom side compression strap on the side you are using can be loosened and used to help hold in a nalgene.
