eBay is the bomb! I sell everything from old clothes to beer cans on eBay! All you need is a place to store pictures for linking and some basic HTML skills and you're ready to eBay.

I can see it now. The guy gets $25,000 for the dress and a bill from Ebay for $50,000 for crashing their server.

it's down to $15,000. I am sure he screened them pretty well (he changed his policy)

anyway, think...if he really would've sold the dress for $333,333...don't ya think the ex would be right there with a law suite??

Probably...depending on how the divorce decree was worded, she may have no standing to sue though.

Hell, what am I saying? This is America, she'll sue!

Go for it Gemini. Reality dosen't enter into it. I don't think his story is any more real than Dub's bear can stories but some people will buy anything.

If this guy was on the Today Show, it's possible that the buyer, whoever it is, will want a bit of the limelight too. They are probably looking at this whole thing seeing who will buy it so they can ask, "What persuaded you to buy this dress for that amount of money?"

If I had $15,000 o blow on getting into the limelight I would prefer to beknown as the person that gave $15,000 to a charity, not the idiot that.......

yeah, but then they could've made the auction private right??

anyway, he got about 10 minutes of air time later on the show. Didn't say as much. I guess he was nervous because he sure didn't sound too funny to me. He's looking for a writing job. Is a computer nerd right now.

at the time the spoke the auction was past $300,000. But he only acknowledged $17,000.

Woooooooohoooooo! What a wild ride! The emails are coming faster than the hits. And now personal appearances. First Star94 radio in Atlanta, then King5 in Seattle, now the Today Show with that I-used-to-be-a-fat-weatherman-but-now-I-am-as-skinny-as-Regis-but-twice-as-funny Al "I will turn this car around" Roker.
It is amazing; all this media hype. Hey, Al! Any relation to Roxy?
EBay has graciously allowed me to update this page once more. So I will keep it brief.

This one guy emailed me and said, "Hey, bud. What part of Texas do you live?"
Uh... Well, sir, I am from Seattle. Uh, Seattle, Texas.
Right next to AreYouAFreakingMoron, Texas, which is a hop, skip and jump from IWasEducatedByGeorgeBush, Texas. Thanks for asking, neighbor.

We have a website coming that everyone can check out. It will be up soon.

NEW ENGLAND TECH WIRE -- April 30, 2004

o Visitors to eBay Surge with Wedding Dress Auction

San Jose, Calif. -- Internet traffic to a well-publicized auction on San Jose-based eBay attracted 1.5 million office workers on Wednesday, according to Nielsen//NetRatings, a provider of Internet audience measurement services. The auction, for a size 12 wedding gown put up for sale by a disgruntled divorcee, drew cult-like attention from the Internet community and the media in just a week. By comparison, weekly traffic for the U.S. Department of Defense drew 1.4 million unique visitors from work for the entire week ending April 25. Web surfers could read the man's story of why he was selling the dress and view photos of him modeling it, spending an average of six minutes on the page. The auction ended Wednesday, with the dress selling for $3,850. http://www.nielsen-netratings.com/pr/pr_040429.pdf
