expanded basic cable (no premium channels) and internet just went up to 97.00 a month. I wish we had more than one cable company (Comcast) so we would have some choices and probably cheaper prices

Charter is the Debil...!
De Debil I tell youse!

CABLE DSL ....BEWARE!...Charter assigns the POP by AREA not individual user....SO?...when there are 200 people in a subdivision let's say, then 200 people are sharing the POP....

Just cancelled Charter and switched to the local Phone company DSL, INDIVIDUAL POP server access, and a local (Just down the street) Super Computing office for service in the home.

If you are switching to CABLE DSL, then ask before you connect if your access is individual or Shared....Shared sucks, and so does the company service.

Juno, $5 a month for 6 months then it goes up to $10. It works just as fast as when I had AOL and I don't get disconnected nearly as much.

Sprint DSL bundled with my phone service: $90.00/mo. I get earthlink e-mail included with the DSL service. I had dial up with a local private company and got tired of getting kicked off line every 5 minutes.

FREE. $0.00 NADA. ZIP. ZERO.

My neighbor has a cable modem and an unsecured wireless setup he leaves on 24-7.

I just turn my laptop on and it connects up real good. YIPEE!

Of course, I'm screwed if he ever wises up enough to set a password on his router.....

That's the best when you can use someone else's service.

Unfortunatly, I'm paying $49.95 to Bright House (the only provider where I live). Considering the slower speed version. I'm pretty spoiled by this now, and I'm not sure I can switch back.

Adelphia cable, $40/month, 4 Mbps download, 384 Kbps upload.

Just tested download speed, "Your Speed is: 3264 Kbps" I'll just have to live with it.

Comcast, $42/month but requires standard cable TV subscription, 3112 kbps download

I've had cable since 1998 (our town was one of the first in the state to have it) and it is still the best residential-class Internet connection technology that I've seen.

I prefer cable over DSL because there is less copper wiring involved in cable, as the neighborhood lines are all fiber optic, and only the building lines are copper. Telephone lines tend to be copper fiber all the way to the switching office, and are much more subject to noise that messes up the Internet connection.

Internet: SBC dsl for $16.95/month.

Cable: free. It was turned on when I moved in. I called them twice to tell them that I am receiving it even though I'm not a customer. They told me both times that they would disconnect but never have.

I make out with my old landlord (female) a couple times a month. Works out great. If I give up a lil' more I'll be able to use her wireless.

My daughter uses satelite internet service & it's much slower then road runner. Faster then dial-up. Half the time it's down & she comes over to my house to work on her masters.

Now that she's sold her house & moved into a rented villiage hoiuse while she builds her next one, she's getting road runner.
