Ped tied the knot Saturday!!
Congratulations to you for all you've accomplished.

and now for a wedding funny-

A couple just got married and on the night of their honeymoon before passionate love, the wife tells the husband, "Please be gentle, I'm still a virgin." The husband being shocked, replied, "How's this possible? You've been married three times before." The wife responds, "Well, my first husband was a gynecologist and all he wanted to do was look at it. My second husband was a psychiatrist and all he wanted to do was talk to it. Finally, my third husband was a stamp collector. I really do miss him..."

OK Ped, you da man... but it's time for a taste of reality.

Buddha Bear tried to warn me,
Artex tried to warn me,
Sir Pete just rolled his eyes.
Pennsy snickered nervously,
Gremlin took a drink,
MarkO was nowhere to be found!
The girls thought it so wonderful,
That Bobo would settle down,
Ice Tea was too young to have a clue,
and Dare and Adventurist welcomed me to the club!

So when I was single,
the amount of hiking I did was way up here ---> ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

and now I'm married,
the amount of hiking I do is way, way down here ---> ______________

WELCOME TO THE CLUB, BUB!!!!

Thanks everyone for your well wishes. I had nice, simple and quiet wedding with about 20 people (almost all parents, siblings or kids - we have two each). Ellen was a wonder through my hospitalization and my family has grown to love her almost as much as I do.

I am a bit nervous about going home and continuing the long road to rehavilitation and recovery. I've been hearing horror stories about the burn garments I'm going to be wearing soon.

I'm hoping to be in backpacking shape next year. One potential limiting thing is problems with swallowing due to some damage caused by intubation. It may limit what I can eat on the trail - but shouldn't keep me off altogether.

Although I'm realizing how lucky I am to be alive and as intact as I am, I'm also feeling a bit down and nervous about the residual damage and the struggles I will face.

I'm not sure how much I'll be on line, probably a lot less than before - but I am grateful for your support and well wishes. Ellen has posted here and has seen all the cards and the support I got from TTers and has come to respect my connection here.

All the best,

David

I used to work out with a guy who had to wear a burn garment – basically a hood over much of his head and neck. If it slowed him down you’d never know it. I’m sure a tough bastard like you will compensate.

Best wishes as you roll along the path Ped. Oftentimes the residue/clean up and rehab can take more time and effort than the initial recovery from trauma.

Backpacking and the rest of your old usual activities will come (or not) in the appropriate time.

Keep putting good days behind you, as they add up you'll be living your life again.

My thoughts truly continue to be with you day by day. ( a confirmed atheist like myself can't exactly say I'm praying for you now can I??).

It's great that you have had Ellen to draw strength from. Best to both of you.

Cheers!

Congratulations, pedxing! Having just gotten married myself, I'm happy to see anyone else tying the knot too! Sounds like the two of you are very happy together. Happiness can't hurt recovery one bit!
