Kayaking trip in PA

“Radisson (Sportspal in Canada) makes great canoes. Depending on what size you get they will run from about $700 to $1000.”

“Dub you can probably find something cheaper from a different manufacturer. I like Radisson because it has a good weight to capacity ratio. I have a 14' that weighs only 41lbs but can hold up to 800lbs.”

“Dub, you can get used canoes for a couple hundred dollars. We got an old (1967 or so) grumman fiberglass for $225 a few years back. Its good enough for who its for. You can also find deals on kayaks. We got two Perception Carolinas (14.5 ft 56lbs 400lbs weight cap) at and REI used gear sale . Mine was used once,Sass was unused but returned. They normally cost a touch under $1000 each,but we got both for $800. Look around and shop shop shop.

Regarding brand etc...Necky and Perception make really nice boats for a good price. Its like buying BP gear loas of options. I can send ya a friends email addy if you want. He's a kayak instructor and often has boats for sale, he also may have some info on type of boat etc that you may want/need.”

“Dub, a kayak is totally different from a canoe. Depending on the kayak, they can be very easy to tip over. It's important to take classes on being able to turn yourself back upright in the kayak if it goes upside down, and if you fall out, you need to practice on how to get back in.

Try renting out a kayak in an area where the water is gentle, and you can stay close to the shore.

My hubby grew up near the Honesdale area in PA. We went canoeing by an area called Skinners Falls. We were in a skanoe (skanew). It's like a canoe, except it's flat in the back instead of being pointed.
