Hey Stovestomper!!!View Messages10:57:37 AM 5/05/04 LOL “Yep, that's me! ;-)” 10:58:35 AM 5/05/04 “you have mail” 10:01:11 AM 5/14/04 “Hey Stovie..you don't have mail...just thought I would say "hi"” 10:22:30 AM 5/14/04 “Hiya "steve!" (what an interesting but weird thread that was!)” 10:34:58 AM 5/14/04 “Ewk, I think he's gone...he was taking one of his nephews hiking this weekend.” 10:38:37 AM 5/14/04 “Not gone yet, but soon, woo hoo!!!! 'hi' back crazygurl! What thread, lizsbaby?” 10:59:06 AM 5/14/04 “I went back and read THIS thread, which referred to the thread on "the other side," which was WEIRD!” 1:56:45 PM 5/14/04 “And check your AT Springer Mt. thread, stovey!” 2:00:53 PM 5/14/04 “Hey Stovey, you got mail... actually I sent it yesterday which means you probably already read it but I've noticed this trend of people announcing that they sent you mail. *big breath* ok. Personally, I know I have email before I ever read a TT thread. :)” 9:27:13 PM 5/14/04 “did you ever post the trip for the AT in Oct on the trips page or are you still thinking about it?” 11:31:08 AM 5/26/04 “bump” 12:34:43 PM 5/26/04 “Still thinking about it, but am leaning toward not posting it. The group looked like it might get to large for my taste. Not sure I want to be the 'leader' of such a group. 'Leading' a TT hike is much like trying to herd cats.” 12:39:00 PM 5/26/04 “oh, so your going to make it a private trip and only invite all the HOT TT LADIES...hehehe can't say that I blame ya” 12:46:48 PM 5/26/04 “Eddy, good idea. ;-) Heck, walkndude does it. Only thing is, I ain't as 'purdy' as walkndude, the TT ladies wouldn't hike with me. ;-(” 12:50:18 PM 5/26/04 “Buy a guitar.” 1:15:23 PM 5/26/04 “Or some 36 hour Cialis.” 1:30:02 PM 5/26/04 “yeah, grow that hair really long... and SING FOR US!!” 3:36:32 PM 5/26/04 “Back in my hippy days my hair was in a ponytail down my back. I wish I could dig up a picture. Ha Ha.” 3:40:47 PM 5/26/04 “Please post that picture. We would all love to see it.” 5:26:46 PM 5/26/04 “Don't think you're digging hard enough!!!” 6:59:56 PM 5/26/04 “LOL Good one, Lizs! But this one is my favorite... "'Leading' a TT hike is much like trying to herd cats."” 6:30:11 AM 5/27/04 “Come on SS, don't you want to share some of my recent headaches?” 6:33:02 AM 5/27/04 “hey stomper, incase your ears were buring- from another forum: Lightweight water shoes or thongs -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Looking for a pair of real light water shoes/socks or thongs. Anyone got any suggestions? redhawk funny you should ask, hawk. i'm working on a home made ultra cheap, ultra light design right now. give me a couple days and i'll post my results. sacco stove stompers flipflops: http://www.datasync.com/~wksmith/flipflop.html i don't like a thong between my toes, so i'm making a pair with nylon webbing on top around the ankle for support. more like an ultra light, ultra cheap pair of tevas. sacco I did look at those crocs a couple of days ago on one of the sites. Not quite what I was looking for. I do like those booties thatTom Posted the link to. We'll see how Sacco makes out with his project and maybe I'll either make a pair also or con him into making me a pair. I have a pair of real good sandals that I have been using for a couple of years, and they work great, but they weigh in at 26 oz. EACH, and are rigid so not condusive to packing. redhawk well, after a couple of modifications i'm ready to post the results of my ultralight sandals test. i'd post pics but i don't have a digital camera. maybe i'll come back and post some at a later date. i used : a pair of ProFoot insoles some 3M bundle wrap (its kinda like velcro tape) some triptease cord (scraps i had left over) i used stove stompers plan, except i wraped a piece of bundle wrap around my ankle. then i used 3 pieces of cord. one as the big toe thong, two on the sides of my ankle. all three are tied to the ankle band. i wore them around my house all evening, doing a little yard work and mowing. they did a pretty good job. i even checked them out for stream crossing. i have a little 5 foot wide creek that i walked up and down for 5 minutes. they performed much better than i thought - but the creek is only ankle deep and i did walk pretty slowly and deliberately. after the water test i added another band of bundle wrap around the bridge of my foot to keep the insoles from sliding underneath my feet. the bundle wrap holds fast, even when wet. to sum up : they weigh 0.75 oz a piece including both wraps- pretty cool. i believe they'll work fine for sitting around camp, maybe some light walking or even wading. hawk, if you really want i'll make you a pair, but they're kind of a custom fit. if you want instead, i'll bring the materials next time i see ya, and make them on the spot. it'll prolly take all of 5 minutes. sacco” 9:43:07 AM 6/03/04 “OMG!!! A CHALLENGE FOR STOVEY!! where oh where IS he?!?!?!” 2:02:51 PM 6/03/04 “Any chance you might show up at the Ithaca Trip? Have you ever been to NY? Would be cool if you could make it. Also would be fun if wolfeyes and mtnmom2 showed too....LOL” 10:03:51 PM 6/22/04 snafu “I acually wanted to make this trip to meet you bunch of crazy yankees, but I have work stuff that time period that I can't get away from. I checked into flights but I just couldn't swing the time off.” 10:08:21 PM 6/22/04 “Hey, dude! Whatever happened to the oven-fired windscreen?” 12:10:18 PM 9/10/04 “lizsbaby - been to busy worrying one of those FL hurricanes will come my way and working on my sailboat.” 4:24:34 PM 9/10/04 “ok, stovey. I was just soooo awfully jealous of Ruby and her still-pristine one (yeah, I know, I know... and hers isn't even oven-baked!) Soo..... does working on the sailboat have to do with preventive, pre- hurricane stuff? Or are those two totally exclusive things you're talking 'bout: working on the sailboat AND sitting on yer butt@ss watching the Weather Channel?? LOL ;-P” 4:36:35 PM 9/10/04 “Nope, working on the sailboat has nothing to do with hurricanes. Getting ready for a Island trip after hurricane season. ;-) Had to replace some woodwork and mainly clean it up, and put new tires on the trailer.” 4:59:58 PM 9/10/04 “report to the Black Mountain Crest Trip thread..you have TT ladies begging you to go” 4:05:23 PM 10/12/04 Hey Newbie!!!!! “The category you choose for your thread is very important on how it will be displayed on Trail Talk. Stovestomper is EVERYONE! I dunno. I'm just messing with him about messing with the new names.” 1:11:30 PM 1/04/05 “Now children! PLAY NICE!!!!” 1:15:14 PM 1/04/05 “SS is the Matrix.” 2:22:21 PM 1/04/05 “Stovey, you know about ships; right? Could you help me with how to spell a word related to a ship? I'm trying to transcribe what a veteran said for the Veterans History Project. He makes reference to a sailor who "worked in what was callded the foksel head (ph) up front on the flight, the hangar deck level." How do I spell foksel head?” 3:25:19 PM 1/04/05 3:29:59 PM 1/04/05 “That's it! I knew I'd seen the word before. And I should have asked you, bit, first. I've got a couple more questions like that one for ya in a while. Thanks!!!!!” 3:34:08 PM 1/04/05 “YW!” 3:38:02 PM 1/04/05 “Dang bitpusher!!!!! Lost my chance to make points with Ruby! ;-)” 4:21:34 PM 1/04/05 “You snooze, you lose!” 4:22:38 PM 1/04/05 “Well CRAP!!!!!! I had to work a LITTLE today! LOL” 4:27:11 PM 1/04/05 “did not.” 1:18:26 PM 1/05/05 “Stovey, You've already got enough points with me. But I'm hurt. I invited you up to see Spamalot and you ignored me.” 2:54:10 PM 1/05/05 “OH CRAP!!!!!!!! IT HAD TO BE AN OVERSIGHT ON MY PART!!!” 3:03:30 PM 1/05/05 “You missed it? I thought you were dissing me. I think it was on the Monty Python thread a couple weeks ago.” 3:06:36 PM 1/05/05 “I would be a complete fool to ever 'diss' you. That kinda sounds like a song lyric. ;-)” 3:10:40 PM 1/05/05
