What we've got heayuh is a failure to communicate.

Oh please markO - This whole thing started because you argued the point that I made when I said about Vick - “His issues go back to parenting, or lack thereof.”

Your favorite quote here was a counter to that, as if his parents had little to do with it. The fact is they have A LOT to do with it (whether or not they are involved parents).

If that's not what you meant, then fine, maybe Mutt is right. I just think you were trying to argue that his parents had little to do with it as compared to his environment and genetics. Sure seemed that way to me, but the interweb is a poor communication tool.

Parenting is an environment. And how the hell do you know what Vick's parents were like?

"Parenting is an environment"?

Oh, okay!

And how the hell do you know what Vick's parents were like?

I don't, but I do know that he is a product of them. Something on there end was not done properly, even if they died in a car crash when he was 2 days old, they didn't care for him properly. It may or not be their fault, but likely it is.

MarkO, "parenting" is more like a job than an environment. An environment is a collection of influences, not just a single one.

What a fool!
I am 24, live with my parents, can't find work and am floundering in a sea of debt five figures high. I think of myself as ambitious, independent and hardworking. Now I'm dependent, unemployed and sleeping under the same Super Mario ceiling fan that I did when I was 7.

How did this happen? I did what every upstanding citizen is supposed to do. I went to college. . . .Upon graduating, I was helplessly launched headfirst into the "real world," equipped with a degree in history and $32,000 in student loans. Before ricocheting back home, I would learn two important lessons:
1) There are no well-paying--let alone paying--jobs for history majors.
2) The real world is really tough.

My loan payments can't wait much longer, and soon I must leave home to find work that doesn't compromise my integrity. Although I sometimes wonder what it would be like if I had declared as an accounting major and got a cushy job punching numbers somewhere, I'll take my history major, my debt and my mom's cooking any day of the week.

Dang! They made a song about this guy!

those who major in history are doomed to repeat it

That compromise my integrity bit was the stupid part.

its not all that stupid. no one wants to go to four years of higher education and spend thousands of dollars, only for it all to be a waste. however, one has to eventually bite the bullet and take the first good job that comes along

I have known lots of college grads who were working at Wal-Mart, grocery stores, doing lawn work and all kinds of average "Joe" jobs to make ends meet. I have more respect for someone like that than someone who is just going to sit around and cry about about their bills. They can always work some type of job while they are looking for what they really want.

like i said, ONE HAS TO EVENTUALLY BITE THE BULLET AND GET A JOB. i can empathise, for a short time, because ive been in his boat. now, if hes not working a year later because he didnt want to "compromise his integrity", then sorry, no pity

WOW, can you imagine the impact that could have had on all the other employees in that company, or the negative consequence for all their customers?

That woman deserves to be un-employed the rest of her life, what a selfish b!tch!

That proves she wasn't a libby. Why would a libby look for a job if they could sit back and collect welfare?
