“Well, August is almost here and we should wrap up all the lose ends.

Please email me if you are attending and how you are going to get there. Please keep it simple.
I would like it like this:

Leaving from: Cincinnati
Arriving to: Salt lake
Driving from Salt lake to trial head.

If you know the your dates and time, put them in there to.

I will figure our how many cars/vans we need to get to the trail head. Maybe some kind soles near Salt lake can offer us shuttle services. If not, I will rent a van and we can all chip in to pay for it.

I say: Come out over to the Winds and stay as long as you can. There are lots of outs on this trip. For every manin trail thear are at least two side trials that will lead you out. You will just need to plan on how getting out and back to your car/airport. I will help you as much as I can. Send me an email and we will work it out for you.

I had to decide between a work-related conference in DC and the Wind-o-Rama. The Wind-o-Rama wins. I figured I'd rather get eaten by a grizzly than gotten by a terrorist. Besides, I give so much of my life to my job and no one to blame but myself.”

“I'm too lazy to get out my maps. What is the town closest to the TH. It looks like most people will arrive by van in the evening the day before departure. Is the plan to head out that evenilng or the following morning?
Landscaper and I will probably be the first to arrive. We could snag sleeping accommodations (campsite or whatever) for everyone.”

“Where do we want to stay or meet on the first day? Is there a central Hotel or spot we can pick for us to meet?”

“wow it's almost mid June. You are right August will be here before no time. Bigpappa, when you say the first day are you refering to Thursday?”

“I think it depends on when people will arrive and when we need to hit the trail the first day. I haven't studied the map to see how far town if from the TH.

Are people thinking of camping at the TH the night before we enter or sleeping in some type of lodging?”

“I'd guess the trailhead is maybe a 45 minute drive from Pinedale, and remember that we'll have to go to Elkhart park first to leave some transportation there, which we probably should do on Thursday after we get to Pinedale, then we could either camp at the trailhead or stay in Pinedale.”

“I'm up for either option. It might work best for the early arrivals to get some cars shuttled around so the people who arrive late can just relax. We will be able to arrive quite early. Is anyone else coming early by car?”

“I was thinking of driving to the trailhead from the airport and campling at the trailhead. We could then drop the car that night and be ready to rock the first day.

Everyone will be at the airport by ealy afternoon.

We should make a list of what kind of fuel everyone needs, so the first one to arrive at the airport can get one of the autos and go get the fuel.”

“Maps - You can get the 7.5 minute quads from the USGS. Most of the route is covered by the Squaretop Mountain, Gannett Peak, and Bridger Lake quads.

Earthwalk Press also has a set of Maps (the route is on the North map) of the Winds.”

“Is camping at the TH allowed? Sounds like the most convenient way to go.

We will be on a leisurely road trip for the 10 days before this trip. I'd be happy to get fuel for everyone flying in. Just let me know what you need. Will flying with stoves be an issue?”

“We should be able to stop and get fuel at the outdoor store in Pinedale.”

“I just learned that Backcountry Store where I ordered some stuff is near the SLC airport.”

As for camping at the trail head. I do not know . I am assuming that there has to be somewhere to camp. I will check my books.”

“I Know some of the sites are reservable, I'll check back in a minute.”

“There are for reservable sites they look to be RV sites. I think we can probably take our chances, Worst case scenario is we hike in to the head of the lake, it looks to be 1.5 miles maybe.

Bigpoppa - Have we worked out the transportation arrangements to and from SLC? If so what time can we anticipate leaving Salt Lake City?

It's Five hours to Pinedale and then figure another 2 to 2.5 hours to stop at the outdoors store, grocery store and shuttle cars. So I'd say we have to figure on getting to whereever we're going that night about 7.5 hours after leaving SLC.”

I have not taken in consideration for stopping at grocery stores. I am assuming that everyone is going to be ready to go excuding fuel. If that is a bad assumption, then we need to figure something out.
