“I frequent both sites. mostly the "other one" because that was the first. I do like it here though. This board is not so "sensitive". If you say the sky is blue over there...you're immediately hit with. "Are you predjudice against gray or partly cloudy skies?" or "Blue sky is just another word for "the man" coming down on us" or, "Blue skies are just a tool of the ultra conservatives to make a smokescreen for all the worlds problems". Once in a while...an actual backpacking subject will get a response though...and that's very special.
You folks speak your mind, and don't take every little thing as an instant insult. There's just a whole lot more backbone here.”

I scan TBP.com for backpacking and mountaineering threads, and often all I see is chatter about dating and jobs. Those can be interesting, but the backpacking topics can get pretty slim.”

She had posted over on the other site about how disapointed she was that now that she had moved away from Indiana to Idaho there seemed to be some hiking activity in Indiana. She lamented the fact that she had never been able to find a hiking partner in Indiana and now was encountering the same problem in Idaho. I told her I knew there was at least one person from this site, Idaho Bob, who hiked in Idaho and that she should come on over and introduce herself. Be nice to her. She's not a troll.”

Hard enough keeping up with this site 2-3x week, no thanks to the other site. When I get tired of the Fox news channel, this is real entertainment!”
