I agree with the ruling that everyone participating must hike in, it is a backpacking cooking contest afterall. If you were in a wheelchair then you probably wouldn't be backpacking anywhere...but you carry a pack and hike just like everyone else and if your disability limits your distance, etc...well, I trust the ruling council may come up with a compromise. TD, did I say something wrong? I was just trying to give NS a hand and see if a few others would chip in and give the brother a hand so he could make it in without the shuttle, but I'm not against someone like him taking the shuttle...of course the contest is your thing and you guys make the rules and decisions...I hope my input (which can be completely ignored if you want) isn't out of line. :-D u b” 3:12:05 PM 6/07/04 “The biggest problem with this event is that, historically, it had no "rules". There needs to be some sort of standard set as to the competition. But as with most rules, too many rules is as bad as no rules. The fact of the matter is that there is no "one" person in charge of this. Reality is that several people get together to pull it off. Smokygirl has busted her behind on this thing. Probably the best thing that could happen is for the Town of Cumberland Gap to "adopt" this event.” 3:18:34 PM 6/07/04 “Chili, I have no problems with you and you know that. I just get tired of the bull crap that comes from someone. Smokeygirl is an asset to this event. She would be the one of the reasons I would attend this event. No offense to you but she is a hell of a lot prettier than you. I agree with having Cumberland Gap adopting this event. Plus IMO the date needs to be moved back to Dec.” 3:31:37 PM 6/07/04 “Chili, I think Ewker is saying he will attend TC4 if you shave your legs.” 3:35:11 PM 6/07/04 Towndawg “....Ewker/SS: If this is a personal attack, then get it off the board boys. These folks have better things to do than to hear you two twirps trying to trash Tc2 -- which happened two years ago.... Towndawg Only personal attack I see is you calling me a twirp. That is a personal attack. I will refrain from calling you names. You made a false statement about the hiking requirement to Nowslimmer. I called you on it. Get over it. If you want a personal attack, there are tons of attacks to be dredged up about TCII. I chose not too. You should be glad of that. I also voted with my feet about TCIII. I didn't go. I may go to TC4 if chili, hpm, and smokygirl can get it organized. I will continue to post to this thread if it interests me. You don't own this board.” 3:36:21 PM 6/07/04 “Chili, StoveStomper wants you to shave your legs too.” 3:37:44 PM 6/07/04 “Oh, all credit belongs to Smokygirl but I'll share in the blame.” 3:38:40 PM 6/07/04 “lol@hpm but No WAY..just that thought is scary enough” 3:39:15 PM 6/07/04 “I've seen chili's legs. Sorry, they don't do a thing for me. ;-) That cute as can be smokygirl is another matter. ;-)” 3:39:45 PM 6/07/04 “i had fun during TC2 and TC3. Don't care what ya'll saying. I never entered the cookoff itself though. I came for the fun and to meet great people. I understand that some of you wasn't happy with...whatever... but it's a pretty new event and those things take time. can't expect it to be perfect from the beginning.” 3:43:06 PM 6/07/04 “I appreciate the efforts of everyone involved in organizing this event. Such a task isn't easy, just take a look at the criticism in this thread, then add in what a whole town, a national park, and doners have to say. I had a blast last year and if it was done the exact same way I'd come. But as I see it Chili, HPM, TD, and Smokeygirl and trying to improve the contest and make it better and I think they're doing a great job. Again, hat's off to you guys!” 3:43:45 PM 6/07/04 “No offense, I know smokygirl is better looking than I am...hell, I might have been born at night, but it wasn't last night. It would take a hell of a razor to shave my legs, lol.” 3:44:24 PM 6/07/04 “StoveStomper: It's not a personal attack. It's just frustration with seeing one or two folks trying to ruin the fun for everyone else. I hardly know the two of you. I've never been able to hike with either of you. I've never eaten with you, went to church with you, or coached ball with one of your kids. I just don't understand why it is so important to make my life miserable, when I have never done anything to you, said anything about you, or somehow made sure your life was infringed upon. * shrug * Do what you want. I can't stop you. It just doesn't seem right that you would care so little for everyone else that you would involve them when your attacks are clearly directed to me. I've got better things to do than to listen to rants about how I should have done this or should have done that, when it is clear that I have given ownership to the entire event to a totally new group of folks, that aren't even connected with this board.” 3:48:38 PM 6/07/04 “passive aggressive?” 3:54:04 PM 6/07/04 “Towndawg, good thing someone else has taken it over or you would have ruined it even more. If it wasn't for Chili, HPM and a few others TC2 would have never happened. Stop taking credit for something you almost blew.” 4:08:50 PM 6/07/04 “Relax everybody. This is America. Land of the free. If you don't like TC4, you can always go to the other event, run by two giant corporations. Of course at the only other backpacking cooking contest, only 8 contestants are selected in secret. And Puerto Ricans, foreigners, and people who live in states like Florida and New York are excluded. But they give away hundreds of dollars of prizes. No wait, the time period to apply has lapsed, since they did not advertise on either forum. Well maybe next year you will have a choice. Without a doubt, TC4 is by far the best run backpacking cooking contest in the whole world, eh?” 4:48:35 PM 6/07/04 “I have to agree with Prosecutor. Open event vs. closed event ran by the Martha Stewart side. I'll take the TT contest any day.” 4:50:11 PM 6/07/04 “Ewker/Stovestomper: Take your pissing and moaning elsewhere. The horse called TC2” 4:52:13 PM 6/07/04 “As I was saying, the horse called TC2 has been dead fot a while. The people involved know full well some things could/ should have been done differently, so GET THE #&%!$ OVER IT.” 4:53:30 PM 6/07/04 “Y'all play nice...or do it off the board....... I had a GREAT time last year......and the food was awesome...and the company was the BEST!!!! and it is a shame some didn't come because of past experiences.....they missed out on a great time.....Tilt trying to knock himself out with a rock......Chili was bear bait......Nowslimmer had a runaway ox.....Karo forgot his poles.....Chili carrying the biggest pack known to man...” 5:05:16 PM 6/07/04 “Damn right darlin.....tell them more about my pack.” 5:32:07 PM 6/07/04 “ewker...dude..you and me are kewl..but this is getting not kewl. i'm not going to jump on anyone.yea some things went a lil awry on #2..but it was a blast and better than nothing at all...and it's not like any of use are too poor to have to depend on prize gear that is guarenteed to NOONE...yea a few backs were patted...but that was then.... if you have a prob with an event...don't go or help it get better...don't put bad vibes out to those that want to enjoy it... and also i think we need to stop hedging the rules...once they are set...STICK THEM...or we'll only have probs” 6:14:27 PM 6/07/04 “Hey, I had to hang that bear bag somehow. I figured we were ripe for a visit from Yogi in that 'target-rich' environment --- everybody else's food was hanging 4 ft off the ground, <G>” 6:25:03 PM 6/07/04 “treebait, if you weren't married to a guy who help save TC2 I would tell you what you can do with your post but since you are I will over look it.” 7:09:59 PM 6/07/04 “Chill out a bit guys, it's not like YOU came up with the idea.” 7:13:54 PM 6/07/04 “Opie and any one else. The thing I get tired of is all the lies that Towndawg puts out about it. SS, caught him in one and he tries to make out like it was something else. I agree I had a good time at TC2 but face the facts there was a lot of crap that went on at the cooking contest. If you weren't at TC2 then you don't know. I know HPM, Chili, Opie and a few others know what really happened but they won't talk about it. Tell the truth and it is cool. Set the rules and go by them. Problem is it changes constantly Like I said earlier if Smokeygirl, HPM, Opie and Chili have something to do with it the event will be on the up and up.” 7:18:56 PM 6/07/04 “Those who can, do. Those who can't, criticize. We've been beat over the head with the problems, but the same people complaining don't seem to be doing much to offer solutions.” 8:48:18 PM 6/07/04 “Stickman/treebait - Where you at TCII? The answer is no. I have a contrary opinion because I was there. I enjoyed TCII except for the 'contest'. TCIII was a completely different event. I am busting towndawg's chops for telling an untruth to Nowslimmer about the hiking requirement "always being there". That is true 'Bad Vibes'.” 9:11:22 PM 6/07/04 “Damn right darlin.....tell them more about my pack." chili36 The pack was as big as a house...oh wait.....he brought a tent as big as a house...LOL..hahahahah J/K Chili.......that was sooo sweet of you ..... And TILT..... "Hey, I had to hang that bear bag somehow. I figured we were ripe for a visit from Yogi in that 'target-rich' environment --- everybody else's food was hanging 4 ft off the ground, <G>" Tilt 06:25:03 PM 06/07/04 I know....LOL.....I'm just upset that you wouldn't wait so I could watch incase ya did hit your head.......nature calls.....I was on a mission.....4ft??...how tall are bears?????” 9:13:15 PM 6/07/04 “so....how about game 7 of the stanley cup?” 9:17:54 PM 6/07/04 “Opie, is it game 7 already...dang what happened to the other 6” 9:29:43 PM 6/07/04 “Very simply put there were several things that happened at TC2 and it degenerated into a hang out and drink kinda thing and it was not what was invisioned by the organizers. Some things happened that not everyone was aware of also. BUT, all in all I think I can honestly say that everyone attended had a good time. Ever since then those who have put aside time to organize subsequent TC events have worked to overcome past problems. If we haven't done that please let one of us know and we will do what we can to take care of it. As far as I am aware the issues of TC2 have been put to bed long ago. Am I wrong? So in closing various members of the planning committee have listened to various complaints that come from various sources and as far as we are aware we have worked towards solving them. How about all of us letting go of this nasty tone and bickering among friends and giving TC4 a swing and let us know if we have improved over the performance of TC2?” 9:55:49 PM 6/07/04 “Good words, Mike. :-)” 9:58:32 PM 6/07/04 Slimmer “Don't worry about hiking in alone I have asthma and I am always slow going uphill...but going down I fly... I dont' know if I am glad I do or do not know about TC2... Since I dont' I think I will leave it that way.” 7:24:02 AM 6/08/04 “I cannot recall as single detail from TC2 at this time.” 8:38:50 AM 6/08/04 “Don't worry, there are photos.” 8:40:42 AM 6/08/04 “Horns.” 8:49:25 AM 6/08/04 “All pictures are the result of photoshop! I am innocent I tell you.” 8:56:00 AM 6/08/04 “Nah, screw that defense.... It was all stalkers fault,,,,he made me do it.” 8:56:39 AM 6/08/04 “Chili, I R and horns” 8:57:05 AM 6/08/04 “Maybe next time, a hardhat... with Viking horns?” 9:04:32 AM 6/08/04 “I am telling you,,,it is all stalker's fault. See, it went down like this,,, first he "Packed" in three 30 packs.... now being the friend that I am, I certainly didn't want him to be foreced to pack it out... so, seeing he was struggling to consume that much beer in two days, I volunteered to drink half,,plus some scotch and some goldslauger.” 9:22:20 AM 6/08/04 “your such a friend” 9:31:20 AM 6/08/04 “What a great guy!” 9:38:41 AM 6/08/04 “<*in best Elvis voice*> Thank you, thank you very much.” 9:43:41 AM 6/08/04 “WOW! Did I start all this. This is great, the most intertainment I've had for a while. Things were dull, but this is jumping. "Tilt trying to knock himself out with a rock."If I had known, I would have loved to help! I can hardly wait for TC-4 to arrive. Let's all get up there and have a 'ell of a good time and a fantastic cookout. For TC-4 I offer to be the peace-keeper. I would love to try out some of my aikijutsu training off the mat.” 10:05:05 AM 6/08/04 Well said HPM “The tone of conversation was very out of character for two of my favorite TTers. It's over, we're a year and a half beyond that now. Dub & I had words that spilled over to both sides just a few weeks before TC3, But we ended up chatting by the fire until the wee hours of the morning. We had a great time. Let it beeeeee.” 12:22:05 PM 6/08/04 “(Thinking).......well...if I could be a judge then I would get fed and not have to pack in any food...that should lighten my load considerably and keep the bears away from MY tent and direct them to Chili's tent....” 4:29:25 PM 6/08/04 “Twaren't nothin' special, NS... just your standard bear-bag routine --- tie a rope to a rock / throw it up in the air (possibly over a tree limb) / then run so the rock doesn't hit you in the head on the way back down, LOL I hereby nominate Nowslimmer as the Marshal of Martin's Fork. Just have the Park Service swear you in when you get to town on Friday. Whadda ya say, Deputy Stickman? <GRIN>” 5:15:02 PM 6/08/04 “I'm your huckleberry.” 11:18:34 PM 6/08/04 Jump to Page << prev
