Mt. Lafayette Campground “Hi Everyone, Some friends and I are planing on hiking Mt. Lafayette this Saturday and wanted to stay at the campground but I can't find any directions from the south! Their web page says there is an exit for the campground right off 93 but only for the southbound, the exit for the northbound only goes to a trail parking. Does anyone know how to the campground from the northbound side? or do I have to just keep going north and turn around once the median is gone? I would appreciate any help” 12:45:24 PM 5/18/04 “Yes, the entrance is on the southbound side of 93. No, the median does not end there, you get off at the exit and get back on. There are signs. Might see you there.” 1:03:02 PM 5/18/04 “It's best to go up and turn around (two or three exits later - the signs will tell where you can exit to head south). The other alternative is to get off at the Northbound exit and cross under Rt. 93 on foot - but you will have to drive North and turn around to get back home anyway. Consider doing a loop that will take you to Haystack and Lincoln... the ridge walk is wonderful.” 1:58:06 PM 5/18/04 “Here's a url for a web apge with descriptions of several variations of the Lafayette hike: http://home.earthlink.net/~ellozy/franconia.html#Lafayette” 2:00:49 PM 5/18/04
