I’ve been catching the first episodes as I can. What an interesting show! The whole caste system. The gender issues. The lack of religious freedom issues. The no toilet paper issues. This is going to be one of my favorite shows this year. Plus last night we got some cool nudie shots of one of the hot colonial women skinny dipping. This show’s got it all!!

Was this the one on PBS last night, Nigal? (I was unaware of the title) I came in about 20 minutes into it and Maple was weatching it. Took me a while to catch on to what was happening, but turned out to be pretty interesting. Saw a good chunk of it, but not the whole thing...

...sorry I missed the nudies! :(

Birch refuses to watch it (and so it can't be taped for me...only one tv) becasue Oprah's gonna be on it! He's anti-Oprah to the extreme. =( Hopefully they'll show reruns on a weekend night someday.

Oprah's coming? Egads!

I've been watching it, but I missed the female nuditity. Oh well, can't have everything.

Hearing Oprah and nudity mentioned in the same conversation makes me want to hurl.

Chili's right! Oprah and nudity in the same breath: no go! On the other hand, Oprah and a box of Yodels? Yeah, that makes sense!

Oprah could stand a couple weeks at the place. They were down to the rotten meat last night.

Notice how the liberal women are hot and the conservative women are hard to tell from the men? I bet PBS did that on purpose, those left-wing asses.

LOL there was not that much nakyness. geez nig you mind is a gutter.

that family (voorges I think) are anti-christ. they are forced to attend church every sunday. they dont think its right and are offened by it so instead they went on a picnic. im not to keen on skinny dipping with my kids but this family had no prob about it. maybe i would do it with the kids, but it might freak them out more. LOL
interesting show. I was laughing when the priest showed up with the big red letter P on his shirt.

P = PROFANITY

i can't figure what's going on in that show! i saw one episode a couple nights ago, when Bethany's boyfriend died, and i thought she left. but last night she was on the show, along with about 20 other people i'd never seen before!

about the only people i like so far is the girl who's getting ready to leave and her friend, the guy who came out in church. the rest of them suck so far! especially that one lady who hates church. LOL! if i had to put up with her, i think i'd start feeding her lots of rotten meat. yummmm.

i haven't seen any hot girls! and the only hot guy is the one with dyed blond hair (at least on the ends) who was apologizing for something last night. but he doesn't really seem all that cool.

I know lyra, that's one thing I don't like about PBS. When they bring the series out they bring like the first half of the seaon out at once and show them at all different times in different intervals. they should bate us and make us look forward to the one night they show it like Survivor does.

lyra, the gov daughter and wife left because of her boy friend getting killed, they returned last night with another family and moved in with the gov and his family.

i think there are now about 28 people in all. some of the guys are cute. the gay guy is the sweetest one there. i loved where they all got drunk even the preachers wife. to funny when they wnet down to greet the new comers drunk.

Heck, the schedule is often determined by the local PBS station. Here, on Monday, instead of showing the scheduled "behind the scenes of Colonial House" program, they re-ran the first two episodes.

I love these shows. I think maybe they should make life harder for the bastards though. These things need a good few breakdowns to liven them up. The governor's daughter is hot though - bit too religious but still hot.

Frontier House was da bomb. and there were only 11 people on there, i think. this Colonial House has too many people for my short attention span! how do i keep track of 28 people?

If they really want to make Colonial House realistic, they need to pick a few that "die" of illness. Like about 40-50% of them.

Then lyra will be able to keep up, lol...

There's been a few good brit versions of these, the Manor House was a good one. Really showed up the social divide between the classes.

Manor House was good. I particulary liked their website, which had a good section on where you would have fallen in Edwardian society, based on your sex and your father's occupation. They didn't really list my dad's occupation, but I picked the closest thing. I think I would have been a printer or a clark, depending on which of my dad's possible occupations I chose.

Oh, well that's no fun. None of the silent V2 attacks?

You probably know this, but they thought the first few were "gas main explosions", because no one heard anything before the blast. The V2 was supersonic on its way down.

The first Brit one was the best IMHO where they put them all on an island and had them make a scociety. Can't remember the name though.

I love the premise of these shows. Its an incredible opportunity for folks to try to capture what life was like. PBS deserves a big salute for sure...until now. Those rotten SOB's bring in Oprah. On the commercial for the show all the women get all giddy cause her highness is showing up. So much for realism. They'll be playing to her big time. What made (I stress MADE) PBS great was its removal from pop-culture and celebrity worship. It was about independence and quality. Oprah can buy anything she wants forever. Leave PBS for us. Leave these opportunities for the average Anerican and let Oprah act out her dreams on her dime. Its bad enough she ties up regular TV now she's on PBS. Its a shame. I doubt she'd she'd show up if they made her role authentic. I would feel the same if Mel Gibson or Leonardo DeCaprio or Madonna showed up. It spoils the whole thing. Let PBS rot in hades!
