Need Your Help
my 87 year old aunt and
92 year old mum were in
a very serious accident. Guy
ran stop sign with 1 1/2 ton
truck and totalled my aunt's
car. Mum is in CCU unit and
aunt is hospitalized with
serious injuries.

All good thoughts and prayers
in their behalf will be appreciated.

Today in my town the city administrator's wife got killed in a 3-car accident just outside of town.

He is just retiring. A party is planned for June 4. Just yesterday I interviewed him. His now-late wife was a good friend from high school on with my co-worker.

You don't know what is ever gonna happen. Fred will now start a whole new chapter of his life with a whole new scenario.

Appreciate those you have and let them know.

And say prayers for those in need, like here. Thanks.

Good to hear he is okay and exactly what Roam said.

You need to tell him that he should document everything at this point. Take pictures of everything including the damage to the car and himself. Keep a daily journal of the aches and pains he may have as well.

I was involved in a pretty bad one 2 months after I got married. I was at a dead stop on the expressway and a guy decided to fall asleep at the wheel and use my car as his brakes. Police estimated that speed at which he hit me at around 70 MPH. If my seat belt wasn't on, the air bag would have decapted me.

The accident was clearly the other persons fault. I waited 2 years to settle with the other insurance company and thus received a lot more that if I would have sued.

If you guys have any questions, feel free to e-mail me.

He says he's fine. He's more pi$$ed off than anything else. The dip in the work truck that rear ended him wasn't paying attention.

Give HPM my best. WOW I had to dodge a drunk (she was a working girl if you get my drift) pedestrian one afternoon, the guys behind me were to busy checking her out and really never hit the brakes.

Basicly traffic came to a full stop on I77 like it does every single day. I came to a stop and the landscape crew in a crewcab F250 hauling a 16-ish ft trailer wasn't paying attention to stop in time. Hell, it's hard enough to stop a rig that big in the best of conditions. He pushed me into the back of an explorer. Oh yeah, did I mention I drive a VW GTI VR6? Hell of a sandwich there. I'm damn lucky he was able to slow it down as much as he could.

So got tossed around and my neck hurts (yes I always wear seatbelts) and the front and rear bumpers are toast. The explorer I was pushed into had no damage but their trailer hitch #&%!$ed up my bumper pretty good. The guy that hit me had just scratches.

The driver didn't speak english. I didn't stick around to see if INS got involved but I have my suspicions. Thank god he was driving a company truck, at least that way I know it was insured.

Good to hear you are okay, did you say whether you went to the ER or not? As for the neck the human body normally locks down in an impact (kinda a body protection mode) that is why drunks get out easier in a wreck.

So you are going to have a lot of sore muscles from being tense. A massage (Licensed not the one that give you "good time" LOL). and try the hot water or whirlpool.

I have found that stretching and using asprin works for me. But see if that helps. Also stretch the neck and shoulder area.

Good luck, and you know if they were illegal they are probably back at work. Did you call the insurance company personally...need to asap to get the claim started.

INS, the guy is already a disposable member of society. He's got enough problems.

Yep, called the Insurance Co. I'm waiting on hearing from an adjustor.

I didn't go to the ER. I don't really want to miss any work right now. If I do go it will be after working hours.

Shoot Cat...I have been working on a patient on the side of the road with visible fatalities and had cars whiz by barely brushing the bottoms of my boots.

We were on a highway at 2 AM with a terrible crash and I had one ejection who was still alive I had her on the backboard (waiting on the next ambulance to show up) and I was getting the oxygen working. We had half a dozen cops, flares, flashing lights etc. All of a sudden I feel the tires of this little sports car lightly brush the bottom of my boots.

I mean you could see three cars darn near destroyed, there was a body with a sheet over it hanging out a window and the cars are whizzing by at good rates of speed.

HPM, are you sure you shouldn't get your butt somplace for an X-Ray? Similar to what WK said above, when I was rear-ended by a F#@^#$ illegal Alien here in CA with no license & no insurance, it took a few days before my neck actually started causing me serious problems...the Doc's in the E.R. yelled at me for not coming in right away - so now I'm gonna yell at you!

Treebeast - talk to this guy, will ya?

Good, you really should get checked out, even if it is tonight. An ambulance showed up at the scene of my accident and I refused the service, but they coaxed me into coming with anyway. The ambulance driver was surprised to see me up and walking around after the accident. He said the phone call received to report the accident made it sould like they were going to have to cut me out of the wreckage.

The car folded up so muce from the force of the impact, I had to kick out the glass to get out. That was really cool, I always wanted to do that.

thanks guys.

Front and rear bumpers and absorbers are toast and I see some deformity around the rear hatch and the rear hatch itself has some cosmetic damage. It looks small but once you get into it I'm sure they will find more.

Honestly it isn't all that bad. I think I got lucky.

'97 VW GTI VR6
unibody.

Unibodies hide damage really well. Like I said, I expect there to be more damage. I don't trust repaired unibody damage. It's just never as strong as it was.
