Night pix
Over the last couple weeks I've been experimenting with my new digicam at night. I thought I'd share a few pics of which I've taken.

This is a pic I took the other night. A place only 15 mins from my front door which offers great views of Mt. Diablo during the day. At night, it's a different story. I named it "La Domengine" after the geological formation "Domengine" which crops out in a few locations in the area. I set the camera on a tripod with an exposure of 8 secs, tossed a orange photon into the cave and bathed the remaining scene with a flashlight.

I took this one last night. For those astronomy buffs you will know there was not a full moon last night. Everything else is legit though. I was cruising down the trail around midnight checking out the toad migration when this tree begged to be photographed.

Just your typical long exposure while driving on the freeway. Everyone does this, right? Where the green light from above came from I don't know.

I was experimenting with acetate colored sheets by placing them on various flashlights and shining the lights on differing objects. I kind of like this one. I tried blue/green/red/and yellow. This is the yellow. The blue came out just plain spooky and forbidden and cold.

Kind of pretty for a friggin refinery, don't ya think? But it is the night time view from the neighboring Waterbird Park so I guess I can post it here. The time elaspe allowed the wind to carry the steam giving it high pressure-like look.

Here are just a few of my pepsi can stoves aflame. I was going to light 200 stoves, and I still might, but at the time the wind gust were a tad too strong and didn't want to burn down the back deck.

pretty cool man, I like the pepsi stoves the best i think the tree is good and so is the refinery, but the stoves are the most creative - and cool looking.

that first one of the cave looks like a magma tube about to light you up!

hey guys, thanks for approving my photos. After viewing pics from tekdude, windwalker, and buck, I felt I really needed to make an upgrade to my current p&s camera. I bought the Oly C4000Z as the reviews were good and the price was nice. Once I get more accomplished I upgrade to something way cool.

Well, I'm off to the Oakland Hills for some sunset pics over San Fran. I'll post something here if I can get a decent shot.

Those photos are incredible, Rock. And I like Wind's Dragonfly, too.

Rockman aka pretty Pantscandy.. you been hanging around Buck, haven't you? Except you're on stronger drugs.

LMAO!!

Fun stuff...

What's the longest manual time exposure you can do on your digital? You get matahari and me together and we start setting the camera on stuff, taking night shots. hehehee (nothin' warped like yours, however. LOL!!)

Matahari's hammock lighted up

My tent. Course, we've all seen this done before. lol

In both photos I tweaked levels in Photoshop to make the background a bit more visible... and it that awesome blue sky was the unexpected result.

My Canon G5 only goes up to 16 seconds I think, and I have to run it manually to do that. So far I don't think I've worried about the aperture yet. What's your F-stop on those shots?

They're very cool.

Happy trails to you, 'till we meet again.
Some trails are happy ones,
Others are blue.
It's the way you ride the trail that counts,
Here's a happy one for you....
