“Gee, this might be short notice, but my recent contact with Mel prompted me to wonder if getting a few "old timer's" together for a hike might be worth considering...

“Yup, she's there alright... doing some remodeling... some additioning... some bathrooming... adding one, that is...


no dates in particular, wanderer, but Mel mentioned a few dates she'd happily accomodate a crew... I was checking potential interest first... but as these things go, most of it will change anyway...”

“Like Phil, also interested, but can't promise anything either until look at dates. I'm giving up most of my Scouting / Venturing Crew stuff so hopefully have more time for ME! Keep us posted.”

“Gonna be doing a section of the JMT with Mel this summer, looking forward to it!”

“I'm in! Hey whats with Mel? Did she move or is the new house built? Of course dates will be important for the hike but its a great idea. So how ya doin Obi?”

“OK... lemme look into this a little deeper... I'll be Baaaaack...”

“Mel said she's often home between trips, generally weekends, and that nearly all of July is "open"... She also said she's got time available at the end of August, and the first weeks of September...

I could do an end of August or ealy Sept. adventure... August probably works better for those with kids in school, but I'm generally more flexible than most...

How much interest might there actually BE?”

“I'm not available the week of July 19, other than that the summer is still pretty open, need to plug some trips & work stuff into my calendar but haven't done so yet. Backpacking would be my first priority!!”

“Other than July 10th thur 18th (South Lk. to North Lk.) I'm open.”

“wingding - "Old timer" in this context probably refers to anyone who went on one of the llama trips with Mel in 1999 - 2001. I think that Solitary Hiker and I went on three of them.

I wonder if Mel could say hello when we come out of North Lake on my Birthday?”
