Sierra Down 40* Sleeping bag
I just ordered a summer bag from Sierra Trading Post for $112, a Marmot Sierra Down 40* sleeping bag. Does anyone have one that they use or used?

Looks like it has no hood and is a semirectangular bag.

2# for a summer bag ain't bad.

I see... thought about the WM Ultralite (i think thats the name, whichever one weighs a pound)? It's about $70 more, but i think it's rated to 35o, though it is a mummy...

That's the WM HighLite

I have one and love it. 17 oz on my scale for my very used one. I'm a very cold sleeper and that baby has kept me warm down to 38 degrees with me only wearing tshirt and shorts.

It only has a half zip down one side. Be aware of that. You can't unzip and throw a leg out to cool off. I can only stay in it at 60 degrees or under.

Yea, I get hot easily, but I get cold easily too (???). Actually I can deal with cold a little better than hot, because of the humidity. But hell, i'll have a pad (probably thermarest prolite 3) with me, so I can still somewhat use it as a blanket.

I started out one warm night just lieing on top of my thermorest 3/4 with the unziped bag loosely over me as a blanket and the narrow bottom end just resting over my legs. The sides of my legs were uncovered but I was not uncomfortable. Later as it cooled off, I stuck my legs in and still used it as a blanket rather than a bag.

Also thinking about this one ->

Mountainsmith Wisp 30 - 1lb 5 oz
I think backpacker gear guide said you could push it down a few degrees more... a little expensive but looks pretty good.

Got to try out my Mountain Hardware Phantom 15. 1lb 15 oz, 15 degree bag. Expensive, but really rocks. For high altitude backpacking you never know when you will need the 15 degree rating...even in summer.

I haven't received it yet, It is in "Middletown, PA" in a truck on its way to my house. Once I get it I will give you all a full report. I am also going to field test it for a week on the Quehanna Trail in Pennsylvania.... Should be a good proving grounds... I like the weight and I think it will be alright..finges crossed

Well, the bag arrived today, very nice indeed. It has plenty of room for me to wiggle around, not a thread out of place, no down leakage, zipper flows easily, and packs down to very small size. All in all I am pretty impressed with it in my living room... it is off to the field to test it on the 18th... I will let you all know how well it works out.
