I thought For Sure you were talking about that Vertical Kitchen Doohickey.

Cool... TWO kitchen sinks!

Wow I like that too.

My wife uses two basins when washing dishes in camp, one that has cold soapy water, the other has cold water with a little bleach in it for rinsing/disinfecting.

This thing would be PERFECT!

bp, I have one I used for chili cookoffs.

It works well for car camping and provides for a wind screen for a propane stove.

It makes cooking a lot easier.

Seriously, I'm thinking about getting that kitchen, because it will give us more room on the picnic table and make cleanup easier.

Decisions, decisions....

Bit, I've seen how much stuff you guy pack now. How are you going to transport it. There isn't any space left not in the van and not on the roof!!!

On the last trip, to Tims Ford, we packed a lot less stuff, and managed to get everything into the van. We consolidated to one large ice chest, and somehow managed to eliminate one of the baskets completely. The grill even fit inside the van this time.

I also figured out I could move the kids' seats a little forward, and we picked up some square feet that way. The kitchen thingy could easily go on top of the van.

Or, we could always take two vehicles, or get a trailer, lol...

That margarita hand blender is cool! I've often thought about the camp kitchen setup for car camping. We use two dishpans, one with warm soapy water for washing and the other cold water for rinsing. We usually just set them on the picnic table end or bench, but there's just the two of us. We also set the 3 burner Coleman stove on the other end of the picnic table.

D.I.Y.
Don't buy that thing bit, look at the cheesey legs, they'll bend in no time. I saw that picture of the benchtop you made, make yourself a nicer kitchen set the way you want it and with better materials for a fraction of the cost.

did that help you any?

I've threatened to make a Boy Scout style patrol box. We used to use one that incorporated dish pans as storage space when packed up, and effectivley became kitchen sinks. Both sides opened up and would support the stove. The whole think was designed around the stove and dish pans.

Did you check out the one they have at Sam's it's not quite as cool as this one but is very sturdy and about 60 bucks. Drawback no sinks.

Actually I took the sink out of mine, put in a cutting board, and use two milk pails for sink,,one to wash, one to rinse (with clorox solution).

Having all the cooking off the picnic table sure makes it better for the three kids and two adults to have room without fighting cooking gear and clean up gear all the time.

I'm not even going to tell you folks what I have for car camping in fear of excommunication!
Actually, it's not that bad. I think I can still fit everything inside the Jeep. Wait, nope, would be in the same boat as Bit if I have my "box".

I do the dishes the same way car camping as I do backpacking, with twigs and leaves and maybe a slight amount of dr bronners.

That is, if there's any dishes to wash - paper products all the way!

I never owned a car camping stove until after HIKE MAINE I.

And what the heck is this ice cream maker? We just use two coffee cans...

Put the ice cream mix in the smaller can (snap on lid), place in larger can, with ice and rocksalt in between.... Roll back and forth on the ground with your foot for a few minutes, and voilą

In that vein...
Has anybody seen the old hand-crank ice-cream makers anywhere? I have a cheap electric one that doesn't get the ice cream good and hard before it gives up. The hand-crank systems never fail, and they give the kids something to do.

Hey Bit, I've been looking at that kitchen setup too. I don't really need it though. I have a stand for my cook stove, another to support a tray with a plastic wash basin, and a folding aluminum table. But then ...

Don't listen to that Maple Leaf. I happen to know that she's been car camping, ... several times. And she'll be doing it again at Ithaca. What a hittercryp!

Those 'chefs shelves' you can hang on the sides of Coleman stoves are handy, too --- but they're not on the Campmor site anymore... They're not on the Coleman site either.

That's weird. Those are some handy little buggers. Maybe they were too small, light, cost effective and well designed? <G>
