I worked a show one time that he performed in. I was real anal about making sure there was ice in the urinal. Still to this day, I can not think of a reason why. I passed by him many times while workin`......very hep cat to say the least.

As far as interpretations of patirotic songs by different rock and pop stars, nothing ever matched the chill that went up my spine when Ray sang 'America The Beautiful.' “I heard an interview with Ray a couple of years ago on NPR.

He talked about when he was living in the Georgia Home for the Blind (orphanage). He laughed his ass off when he mentioned that even BLIND kids were racially segregated. Imagine.

my wife, who obviously knows what he means to me, recently told me outta the blue that she is gonna play that song at my funeral. i started thinking about the subject and couldn't think of any song i'd rather have played at my funeral. if you've never heard him sing it, please find it and listen to it.
