Gregory Bald Azalea Peeping Trip!

“I had an azalea trek on the calendar for June 21st with my buddies from round here. I called today and booked a reservation for CS 13 at Sheep Pen Gap. I have never seen the azaleas up there in Spring so I'm really looking forward to it. Its supposed to be an extra nice back country site. I think it will be fun. I love waterfalls and rivers, but it seems I'm doing more and more mountain climbing!”

“It'll be great. MDS and I went on about 6/26 two years ago. We were about 3-5 days late, but the blooms were still great. I've hit Roan at peak Rhododendron season and will have to time it with Gregory sometime.

“dana - I in the Enloe Creek area over the weekend. At about 4500' the azaleas were bloomed out. You might want to check with the Rangers because they may already be bloomed out.”

I was at Russell Field and saw that the flame azalea was bloomed out. Thats at 3,700 ft. So I realize it may already be out and who knows what? Maybe past prime when I get there. Thats ok. I'm going on the same day no matter what. I am going to be busy with work and home stuff for the next bit. Its gotta be done.”
