“Buddur is right about watching out for moose. A friend of mine hit one at night a couple of weeks ago. The A pillar on his new Avalanche ended up decapitating the moose and it wound up in his lap. Both he and his wife are OK and lucky to be alive. They didn't total the truck, as the damage was only $17,000. Yikes!

He said he was going the speed limit and it was just standing there in the middle of the highway. He didn't have time to slam on the brakes, but just swerved a little. He figures the swerve saved them both.

Last year, a deer came out from the side of the road when I was driving. I only had time to swerve and it's head ended up denting the rear passenger side door. I bet that deer had a headache for quite awhile. I tend to drive a little slower at night and am more aware of the animals about at night. It seems like every week you can see where someone has hit a deer, moose or bear on the highway around here.”
