Remember these guidelines are a starting point and open to amending from the general populice here... 1. The cook-off will be held on Saturday, July 17th, 2004 Time: TBA 2. Your choice of dish need not be pre-announced 3. Your method of cooking is strictly up to you 4. Desserts, side dishes and the like are welcome as are entrees* * Note that traditionally, entrees may get more attention by nature and may increase your chances of winning the contest, but the choice is arbitrary 5. All entries will be coordinated to be presented at one uniform time 6. Harrassment of last year's champion, or sabotage of his entry this year is strictly prohibited without the expressed, written consent of the commissioner” 12:28:17 PM 6/16/04 “LOL sounds more like "anything goes" ive got your back tree.” 12:33:25 PM 6/16/04 “I'd be willing to sabotage entries for a price. >8)>” 12:35:30 PM 6/16/04 “Well, I think this should be a pretty freewheeling thing like last year, except with a few modifications so I don't get verbally lynched again by the 'Phildelphia Food Fighters Freestyle Lamb Chop Ring'! But, the truth is, there's no need to impose a lot of restrictions. We are all pretty much relegated to BBQing. So, the method is all going to be similar. The food you bring is arbitrary. The only other real detailsis how you prepare. So, carry in what you need and do your stuff!” 12:37:10 PM 6/16/04 “Hey, July 17 is cool and I just might drive down to meet some of you. Is it on the 'Trips' page?” 12:38:07 PM 6/16/04 “No "Denny's" sabotaging!!!!” 12:39:24 PM 6/16/04 “Yes, Gremlin. Or you could choose to read the 2,854 posts on the Ithaca Car Camping Trip thread! Seriously, we'd love to see ya! Hell, come on down from Thursday to Sunday and stay with us. It's going to be a blast and it's beautiful there!” 12:40:30 PM 6/16/04 12:40:58 PM 6/16/04 “Yes grem :-) hope can make it” 12:41:11 PM 6/16/04 “Grem if go and your coming by Rochester,Ny from the great white north let me know....We could follow each opther or car pool too...just a thought” 12:42:37 PM 6/16/04 “Don't do it, Grem! He's going to make you lift one of those big trees he's bringing with him!” 12:44:31 PM 6/16/04 “Ok, just to keep a running tally (whacker) on this thread. You don't have to state your dish, but as wee go, and people view this, say if you are participating or not, please!” 12:49:55 PM 6/16/04 Harrassment or sabotage? “Give 'em hell!” 12:55:21 PM 6/16/04 “I guess I'll have to make it a date. I dunno, Snafu, I've been reading your posts on the 'Dating sucks' thread and you're starting to scare me (jk). I'll try to think of something exotic to cook. Is it backpacking food or anything that can be transported in a cooler and cooked on a Coleman?” 12:55:40 PM 6/16/04 “I'm in.” 12:57:42 PM 6/16/04 “Yes, Gremlin. Or you could choose to read the 2,854 posts on the Ithaca Car Camping Trip thread! Treebeard 12:40:30 PM 06/16/04 LOL! Diggit!!! - gremlin will be in 'da house!!! What kind of Canadian dish are you gonna cook up, Caribou Bacon and Beer?!? I will abide by the aforementioned rules so the rest of you guys have a slight chance against me. However, Geobeet has informed me that he'll be bringing along Salvatore and Vinny (from Two Street) to keep the New York "slow cook" contingency from straying too far from the rules.” 1:14:44 PM 6/16/04 “tell Geobeet, I have Tony with me. LOL inside joke!” 1:18:50 PM 6/16/04 Woohoo! “I just reserved site #13, loop 2. Hmmmmmmmmmm, caribou, eh? Watch out...... BOOMboomBOOMboomBOOMboom... KRAZY CANUCK ON THE LOOSE.... ...and he's... Wait for it... HOOOOOORNEEEEEEE!!!!!!” 1:21:30 PM 6/16/04 “umm your horny for a caribou? what ever floats your boat.” 1:35:38 PM 6/16/04 “This is a serious question. Will they allow Gremlin to transport caribou or any other meat over the border due to the mad cow scare?” 1:43:07 PM 6/16/04 He!! yes! “OOOOOOOOO YES!, Mapes. Caribou tastes like Black Angus beef, only tenderer - right off the beast. Also, you have to shoot two because of over-population. Also, no chemicals or organically modified feed. Yes indeedy. Also it make the best entrecôte à la chasseur you ever tasted. Hmmmmm, maybe with a decent bottles of something from Corbières. (The smell of a Canuck thinking is like spruce fire smoke on a cold and wet spring morning.) Enjoy - Profitez.” 1:43:11 PM 6/16/04 “Great, Gremlin! And you are in for the cook-off too? Cool! Ok, so far: Treebeard Gremlin Capn Bobo Geo Mark-O Who else for the cook-off?” 1:44:08 PM 6/16/04 “I wonder what U.S. citizens do to bring game back from Canada. I'll ask when I pick up my mail in Chateaugay, NY.” 1:49:53 PM 6/16/04 “Mmmmm, caribou. I've never had it but it sounds good.” 1:51:41 PM 6/16/04 “I'm told that bighorn sheep is the best meat on the planet. If it really does beat 'bou, it would have to be out of this world.” 1:53:48 PM 6/16/04 “I brought back a Salami from Switzerland (sshh, don't tell customs!) I think gremlin will be serving up... patte de chameux!!!” 1:55:48 PM 6/16/04 “this thread just proves that grem is in need of a non-sheepish girlfriend. what about wounded knee, he is still going right?” 1:57:12 PM 6/16/04 Drat! “It's been a while since I tasted patte de cameau.” 1:57:36 PM 6/16/04 “tastes like fish, grems! :)” 2:01:01 PM 6/16/04 “LMAO” 2:01:30 PM 6/16/04 “Gremlin, As far as the "Dating Sucks" thread........ummmmmm..Oh never mind!LOL Dude glad to hear heading south! Tree, I'm rounding up a trailer to haul more wood for this EVENT! Any requests? Maybe we should can the cans of beer and go with KEGS!!! I want to be a "official taster" (aka Judge) what is the criteria?” 2:03:03 PM 6/16/04 ... but that would be rude. “Nope, up North they say 'smells like fish... Tastes like chicken.'” 2:03:04 PM 6/16/04 “judge will be not be one of us. it has to be someone no one knows.” 2:10:25 PM 6/16/04 maple “There are the "unknowns" in sights 49,50,51 53? Judging could be a good way to bribe or kill them so they don't complain about our abnormalness :-)” 2:13:05 PM 6/16/04 “I will be kickin' a$$ in the cook off (especially you CB)!!!! You can all still cook if ya want.” 2:35:07 PM 6/16/04 “The rules ring fair, unlike some previous competitions in which I have been engaged.” 2:40:14 PM 6/16/04 Cook-Off Tally! “Treebeard Gremlin Capn Bobo Geo Mark-O Tango Any others? BTW, that's what i was thinking, Snafu. Last year, we took this guy from the site scross from us as judge and stuffed him with food!” 2:42:11 PM 6/16/04 “Trying to keep it simple, but fair, Geo! Any other ideas that i may have forgotten?” 2:43:07 PM 6/16/04 “Other food for the weekend... Are we eating alone or are we going to have a big buffet dinning table like one big happy family? I make a wicked wicked good Summer Fruit Salad! nice and fresh! With, Grapes (Red and Green) Cantalope, Honeydew, Watermelon, blueberries, strawberries, Pineapple, and kiwi's..... mmmm-good.... Or I could bring some of rochester's famous "Zwiegles" Red and White Hots! and some Itialian bread rolls.... or Some Dinosaur BBQ ribs....” 2:53:26 PM 6/16/04 “Snafu, how come we're single? Never mind, everyone.” 2:57:42 PM 6/16/04 Mini trip report. “About the caribou. I'd had it with sitting and correcting and had another question for Customs to which I'd never received an answer from their website and so I decided to drive down to the border. I got to Customs, rode up to the Office door and started to get out when I noticed the Customs Officer step down from his kiosque with his hand on his pistol. Now, I want to die in the snow or my classroom (... and now for my last trick...), not at the foot of some Customs office door and I decided to drive up to the kiosque. 'I'd like to ask a couple of questions inside.' I said. 'Ask me.' he replied. Oooooooookay. (All the guys that have known me for the last twenty-five years are retiring and the young ones are pretty careful - as well must they be in this new brave new world.) I asked about bringing caribou over the border and was told that the border was closed only to beef. The problem is that caribou is indistinguishable from lean beef in both appearance and taste. He went inside to ask and told me there would be no problem as long as it was less than fifty pounds. Question number two was about freeze dried beef. You can't get single portions up here (perhaps a difference in the sexual habits between our two societies - and why are snafu and I still single?). Both Enertia and Mountain House have a good selection of single servings. I wanted to know if I could bring back across the U.S. border beef I had ordered from the States , clearly marked 'product of the U.S.A. and unopened. No problem I was told. All in all apositive experience, particularly as I'm still alive. Now, do I cook for two? What's the drill?” 3:10:41 PM 6/16/04 disregard this post on this thread for a moment “Gremlin, I think it is due to I'm a never been married, no kids guy ....LOL” 3:10:47 PM 6/16/04 “Dunno, Snaf, dunno.” 3:12:14 PM 6/16/04 “gay's can get married now boys” 3:13:25 PM 6/16/04 “so whats your husbands name oobutt?” 3:14:02 PM 6/16/04 “go hit the pipe loser” 3:15:14 PM 6/16/04 I'm not ready. “Not that there's ANYTHING wrong with that.” 3:15:56 PM 6/16/04 “Maple ever thought of changing your name to Trollmagnet?” 3:17:26 PM 6/16/04 “that would be the pipe you put in you'r mouth laplemeaf” 3:17:53 PM 6/16/04 “OObrett Can you say "CLICK" !!! ignore LOL” 3:20:26 PM 6/16/04 Jump to Page |  1 | 2
