They tried to cover it up. The old gray lady needs new management.” 3:21:54 PM 9/23/07 “The Public Editor Betraying Its Own Best Interests By CLARK HOYT Published: September 23, 2007 FOR nearly two weeks, The New York Times has been defending a political advertisement that critics say was an unfair shot at the American commander in Iraq. But I think the ad violated The Times’s own written standards, and the paper now says that the advertiser got a price break it was not entitled to. New York Times Admits It Violated Policies Over MoveOn Ad By Howard Kurtz Washington Post Staff Writer Monday, September 24, 2007; Page A08 After two weeks of denials, the New York Times acknowledged that it should not have given a discount to MoveOn.org for a full-page advertisement assailing Gen. David H. Petraeus. The liberal advocacy group should have paid $142,000 for the ad calling the U.S. commander in Iraq "General Betray Us," not $65,000, the paper's public editor wrote yesterday. Clark Hoyt said in his column that MoveOn was not entitled to the cheaper "standby" rate for advertising that can run any time over the following week because the Times did promise that the ad would run Sept. 10, the day Petraeus began his congressional testimony. "We made a mistake," Times spokeswoman Catherine Mathis was quoted as saying.” 5:50:56 PM 9/23/07 “OL' tiltypoo is changing his tune now that the truth is coming out about the NYT. Kinda makes him look dishonest, doesn't it? Let's recap: my comments = "{}" ****************************************** “It turns out that what MoveOn paid was the standard rate for a full-page black and white stand-by ad. For a stand-by, the client doesn't always get the date or location they request; it's run on a space available basis. No 'special break' at all ---- The Post (and Rupert) were dead wrong (surprise, surprise), < G >” Tilt 7:25:52 AM 9/14/07 {Lies. moveOn paid the stand-by ad rate for Sept 10} “Hmmmm....why no disclosure from the New York Times????” Creek Dancer 9:22:13 AM 9/14/07 “LOL Time will tell....” Tilt 9:26:46 AM 9/14/07 {it certainly did, but not in the way ol' tiltypoo said} “But Anyway ---- Back to the Betraeus / MoveOn / Times Ad whatever.... It's been interesting to follow the non-story about the discount MoveOn got for the now legendary Betreaus ad. Anytime you'd like to do the same, all you have to do is set up a Google News Alert and you get an email when stories matching your search terms appear. This is how it went: Some rightwing blogs picked up the story that MoveOn had gotten a discount. The NY Post printed a one-sided smear story. American Spectator repeated it. Fox reprinted in on their website. The Times debunked it. Advertising Age completely debunked it. [MoveOn got the standard discount ANY advocacy group, including VoteForRudy, would get for that category of ad] {lies} O'Reilly spread the false story on Fox, and so did Brit Hume. After all the noise Giuliani made about the alleged preferential discount.... There Is Not A Single Mention Of It On His Website. Wonder why.... LOL USA Today reports he got the same standard discount he so stridently demanded. {yeah, a true stand-by ad, no date} If you'd like an 'inside baseball' view of how this sort of thing is played within present-day presidential campaigns, read this piece by former Giuliani campaign advisor Patrick Ruffini. The whole MoveOn rhubarb was another fundraising opportunity --- for both sides. And when you're "cashing in on the outrage," timing is everything.” Tilt 12:18:24 PM 9/18/07” 6:34:01 PM 9/23/07 Catherine Mathis “Here is what Catherine Mathis said September 13th. Catherine J. Mathis, a spokeswoman for The New York Times Company, said the advertising department does not base its rates on political content. She also said the department does not disclose the rates it charges for individual advertisements. But she did say that “similar types of ads are priced in the same way.” She said the department charges advocacy groups $64,575 for full-page, black-and-white advertisements that run on a “standby” basis, meaning an advertiser can request a specific day and placement but is not guaranteed them. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/14/us/politics/14paper.html Busted!!” 6:37:50 PM 9/23/07 “The hypocrisy of tiltypoo and the other lefties never fails to suprise me.” 1:30:43 PM 9/24/07 “ABC's Moran Gushes Over 'Thoughtful' Bush Is a Racist Rapper Terry Moran spent almost the entirety of Monday's Nightline gushing over Bush-bashing rapper Kanye West and when West reaffirmed his infamous "George Bush doesn't care about black people" slam, Moran praised him as a "complex and thoughtful pop star." After West asserted that "I have a hard time believing that George Bush cares about anyone," Moran extolled how the original 2005 remark turned West "into a cultural force to be reckoned with" who "is looking for new worlds to conquer." Moran opened the program by asking: "What went through [West's] mind when he blasted the President in the wake of Katrina?" The co-anchor breathlessly wondered: "Would he say it again?"” 4:54:36 AM 9/26/07 “Bill Clinton is defending the MoveOn.org ad on a CNN clip. He gets wild eyed and starts shaking. He looks like he is going to lose it. The vindictiveness of the Clinton's is scary.” 3:38:17 AM 9/27/07 “LOL! I'm sure that this all makes up for all of the troops we've lost in the failed money pit that's is referred to as O.I.L. When is bacpac going to wise up and see that his tax dollars are being used to line the pockets of the Capitalists on Wall Street?” 10:24:37 PM 9/27/07 “laqis sounds like a Revolutionary War loyalist.” 3:18:23 AM 9/28/07 “Lactose the Intolerant...um...yeah the Bilderberger thread is not up, but you can start it...tell us how the EVVVIL CAPITALIST RUNNING DOG SWINE...controlled by the WORLD JEWISH controllers are set to defile the Workers of the WORLD.... Still as entertainingly a twit as you always were.” 5:31:10 AM 9/28/07 Media Matters biased???? “Hillary Clinton Told YearlyKos Convention She Helped Start Media Matters By Noel Sheppard | October 1, 2007 - 18:00 ET As NewsBusters reported Sunday, the leftwing organization responsible for the recent smear campaigns against Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly, Media Matters, has direct ties to the Clintons. To be sure, folks on the left, and in the media that support them, will either deny this connection, or ignore it. In the end, that's going to be hard to do, for on August 4, while speaking at the YearlyKos convention in Chicago, the junior senator from New York boasted of "institutions that I helped to start and support like Media Matters and Center for American Progress." Our friend Mike Church has been kind enough to provide the following audio of this segment of her speech that day (partial transcript to follow). Those interested can also view the video available here (relevant section at 2:20): We are certainly better prepared and more focused on, you know, taking our arguments, and making them effective, and disseminating them widely, and really putting together a network, uh, in the blogosphere, in a lot of the new progressive infrastructure, institutions that I helped to start and support like Media Matters and Center for American Progress. Sounds like the junior senator confirmed my contention from Sunday: "Hillary and her backers have created an advocacy network whose expressed goal is to take down all of her critics in the media. She continued: You know, we're beginning to match what I had said for years was the advantage of the other side. Uh, you know, when I made that comment about the vast right-wing conspiracy, I wasn't kidding. Uh, what I never could have predicted is that it was not a conspiracy, it was just wide open and out there for everybody to see. Well, Senator, it now appears that the advocacy network you "helped to start and support" is wide open and out there for everybody to see. Talk about your inconvenient truths! http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2007/10/01/hillary-clinton-told-yearlykos-convention-she-helped-start-media-matt” 5:59:45 PM 10/01/07 “Wow! Forgive me for being skeptical, I need to see a little bit more than one month before I get too excited about all of this. NOW lets BREAK THIS DOWN...One month out of 48 months (0.02) or 2% of the time in consideration NOW lets look at another BIZARRE spread..... 100 years out of 100 years out of an estimated 1,000,000 years (lets use Million cause it is easier for libbies to wrap their minds around) that comes to 0.001 or 1/10th of 1 %......yet these figures of GLOBAL WARMING are bleated like so many sheep on the pasture.” 5:18:11 AM 10/08/07 “Piles.” 6:22:51 AM 10/08/07 “when is fuegofox's bias going to be resolved?” 6:30:42 AM 10/08/07 “LOL..thank you for making my point.” 6:35:13 AM 10/08/07 “laughing out louder thank you for making MY point” 6:36:40 AM 10/08/07 “More piles.” 8:05:10 AM 10/08/07 “LOEL, don't put your foot in your mouth after stepping in your own piles, Mr. lox.” 8:45:46 AM 10/08/07 “Here's an excerpt from the book cited above. (Warning: it's more than just one line pulled out of context).” 2:20:48 PM 10/08/07 “Okay so here is the story...a poster shows up with rather RACIST identifiers of what a Muslim is on it. Posters appeared all over the George Washington University campus yesterday morning blaring the message: "HATE MUSLIMS? SO DO WE!!!" Campus police moved quickly to remove the fliers, university leaders began investigating how they got there and student groups met last night to deplore the posters, which had a photo of an Arab and description of "typical Muslim" features such as "suicide vest," "hidden AK-47" and "peg-leg for smuggling children and heroin." attributed to "Brought to you by Students for Conservativo-Fascism Awareness" -- and a postscript recommending a BBC video on the politics of fear. The Muslim Crowd goes predictably BANANAS and immediatly blamed (as expected) conservative groups....but...and this is the kicker...BUT apparently it was NOT the Conservatives (heck read the attribute it is clearly the libbie languange of hate) Regardless the Conservatives are being roasted by the media...HOPEFULLY this will lead to another NIFONGING of the Conservatives and will backlash with a multibillion dollar lawsuit that will nail the left.” 5:37:33 AM 10/10/07 “So did Rudy ever pay the difference in price for *his* ad in the Times? MoveOn wired in their payment two weeks ago.” 6:12:21 AM 10/10/07 “Did Dan Rather ever figure out the memo was fake, tiltypoo?” 6:15:38 AM 10/10/07 “Did the Times ask Rudy to pay the difference?” 6:22:22 AM 10/10/07 “Does he have any integrity? "I kept trying to get her attention," Simpson told the Boston Globe's Peter Schworm in a Monday article. "When I did, I realized I didn't have anything to say. I felt like a deer in headlights." So rather than tolerate a few seconds of uncomfortable silence, Simpson told Clinton: "I want to tell you tonight, because I happen to be here with my students, that I endorse you for President of the United States." Schworm contacted several media experts for comment, including Simpson's former ABC News colleague Bob Zelnick and the Media Research Center Vice President Brent Baker. Both said that Simpson's endorsement of the liberal Clinton was less than a complete surprise. "People had always assumed she was a liberal when she was at ABC, but this confirms it," said Baker. "Those familiar with her work probably had very little doubt she stood on the liberal side of the field," Zelnick agreed.” 5:00:22 AM 11/20/07 “LOL....and this proves WHAT, that we didn't already know?” 5:50:31 AM 11/20/07 “If the libbies had ANY shame........” 5:53:20 AM 11/20/07 “LOL..remember the "undecided voters" during the DemSocialist Debate.... http://directorblue.blogspot.com/2007/11/cnn-plants-questions-to-protect-hillary.html In a nutshell, CNN's six "undecided voters" were: A Democratic Party bigwig An antiwar activist A Union official An Islamic leader A Harry Reid staffer A radical Chicano separatist So libbies when are we going to demand punishement for lamestream media outlets that are clearly biased? Here is the breakdown Plant #2: Khalid Kahn, who expressed concern about profiling and the Patriot Act, asked "[m]y question is that -- our civil liberties have been taken away from us. What are you going to do to protect Americans from this kind of harassment?" Classical Values notes that Mr. Kahn is the president of the Islamic Society of Nevada, who has hosted conferences like this one (with guest speakers like Muzzamil Siddiqi). In fact, Kahn in no stranger to CNN, appearing on a show called Keeping the Faith in Sin City. Plant #3: Suzanne Jackson -- mother of a three-term Iraq war veteran -- is aso a well-known antiwar activist. She appeared in the Las Vegas Review Journal protesting -- with a poor monkey, no less -- outside of Harry Reid's office in May. Note: Suzanne Jackson may have been mistaken with Jeannie Jackson, another vet's Mom. See Update IX, below. Plant #4: Maria Luisa -- the UNLV student who asked Hillary Clinton whether she preferred "diamonds or pearls" -- wrote that CNN forced her to ask the "frilly" question instead of a pre-approved query regarding the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste facility.OH This spring she will serve as the political communications intern for Senator Harry Reid in Washington, D.C. Currently a junior at UNLV, Maria is... is an immigrant on a quest to become a United States citizen. Thats about at the bottom of the barrel. Journalists have got to be among the most clueless, self-unaware group on the planet (except maybe for socialists, but then I repeat myself). Dan Rather? Oh gosh, he is a great journalist who just made one mistake. Bias? Sure we all know Fox News and talk radio are biased. Were loosing viewers and readers? Well, were competing with all sorts of other information outlets. Never admit mistakes, avoid looking at your own behavior, ignore data that coflicts with preconceived feelings, and blame it on external forces. If you dont recognize that philosophy as a dead give-away for leftist thinking, youll believe everything you read in the papers... and some folks do. Despite the common sense knowledge that we should not believe everything we read in the papers, some folks continually let themselves be educated by journalists on import subjects. Economics? Believe what you read in the papers. And if they dont report on it, it must not be important. The person who believes that way should at least show consistency of position. The next time they need their car worked on, they should bring it to their doctor. Then againconsistency? For leftist philosophy? Bwaaaaaahahahahahaha! Want some good reading? Try Capitalism and Freedom by Milton Friedman. Friedman asks many philosophical questions about what are we trying to accomplish as a society. He then shows the illogical inconsistency of some positions. He also shows many concrete examples of good intentions gone horribly wrong. As Steven Levitt says in Freakonomics, Numbers dont lie. However, there are many clueless leftists in the world who cant count.” 4:25:20 AM 1/16/08 “Do you know how hard it is to explain the Term UNDETERMINED for fire cause? This (honest to God) is the conversation Reporter: Is this (name and rank"? Me: Yes Reporter: What is your determination on the fire at.... Me: I am listing it as undetermined. R: So that means it was electrical? Me: No it means I do not have the technical capability to rule out a number of possibilities. R: So that means it was arson? Me: NO it means the fire has an undetermined cause. Meaning we were unable to eliminate the possible causes so as to make an exact cause of what started the fire. R: So what does undetermined mean? M (getting frustrated): Undetermined is exactly what it means. Legally I cannot make an exact cause until I totally rule out all sources of fire. In this case there are a couple of possibilities. The technical capability i.e. through Laboratory work and other fields requires a much higher level of technical ability. R: So you are saying it was suspicious? Me: NO I will let the insurance company provide the technical assistance to a point where they may well determine the exact cause in the origin area. I swear every one of these twits thinks they are the next Woodward and Bernstein. They want to break the BIG case. And God help us if it is during a slow news time. Reporters are like the worst gossips in the world. The really sad thing is the ones who work with me...usually get some good stories. I have a couple I will physically take inside to show the scene to. Others can stay behind the tape (LOL).” 5:12:40 AM 1/16/08 “Most jounalists I know went into the field because it was the easiest major in school.” 5:17:12 AM 1/16/08 “The easy thing at MSU was "Education". One of my calculus professors was a very sweet disabled lady and she had to teach a 'math for educators' course also. She loved teaching Engineers but was always ranting about the 'education' major's lack of basic math skills. She felt a 'teacher' should know a little basic math, few did.” 5:47:21 AM 1/16/08 “As a rule the lowest SAT's are found in the Education department.” 6:05:00 AM 1/16/08 Jump to Page << prev
