Our pics are uploaded I'm waiting on OPIE to finish the final editing and give me the green light to post them. We took 82 pictures!!!

I'm a little worried about Precision. Did anyone see him on Sunday? When was he planning on hiking out? I feel bad that we all left without checking to see if he was in his tent. I hope he's ok!!

wonder how long before someone notices the smell in that campsite..and a lone tent.....hope he woke up..it was a dilema..letting a guy sleep in...or waking him up to check on him.

I was feeling kind of bad also Miss Opie, I should have made sure he was in the tent before I left. He did say that he was planning on staying, but im not sure how long. I could go check on him, does anyone remember what he was driving?

I don't know what he drives but he was from Gainesville, FL. If he was planning on staying until today he'll have a long drive home.

I wonder what he thought when either he woke up or came back to camp and we were all gone? We are bad TT friends!!! I'm sorry Precision! I hope you are ok!

I talked to him the night before. He said he was planning on staying a while. He said he likes to sleep in. He asked what time we were leaving, I told him we would probally be leaving at differant times. I assumed he was just getting plenty of rest before the long drive home. Reckon I ortta go back out there?

Gemini his tent was there when we left but no sign of him. We don't know if he was sleeping in or if he was out taking pictures. Nobody tried calling him in the tent.

I don't know Bama? If he told you he likes to sleep in I'm sure that is what he was doing. We like to sleep in too that's why I don't see how he slept through the ruckus of all of us packing our stuff up yesterday.

Maybe OPIE will be done with our pics tomorrow.

Learning the thread routine
Well guys (and gals), this is another post. I'm figuring out slowly but surely the way to post to a particular thread versus just posting in general (which Ive done a couple of times) In an earlier thread, I mentioned some thanks for the hospitality and must say so many thanks for my new nickname-lol (I believe it was well earned). Divinity, I never noticed the "campers hair do" and Bama, next time you plan on doing another Sipsey excursion I'd appreciate a heads up. My backside is a little bruised from my tumble and slide into the mud pit but I still had a hoot of a time in a rather short time frame. I had planned on playing the solitar thing but enjoyed the diversified company and the nip of bourbon at the camp fire Saturday night. Im terrible with names and only recall a couple, so no offense is intended if I dont immediately recognize any of yall in future post-lol.I look forward to some future trips and would love a heads up on any future excursions yall may be planning (like the Jerricho thing in December). Smiles

precision was staying until Tuesday. He was planning on taking lots of pictures. I felt like he probably got up early to go take some long exposure photos before the sun got too bright. Hopefully, he'll write in tonight.

Thanks again to everyone being so tolerant and looking out for my little one. It means alot. This was a great trip for Reece and me. Last night at bedtime I asked him if he'd rather sleep in a bed or a tent. He said a tent. I thought, "YES." This was a great trip all the way around. Sometimes big trips lose some of the intimacy (bad choice of words?), but this one didn't. I didn't get the chance to individually talk to each person one on one but it still seemed like that happened. Again, thanks to BAMA and Chef BAMA and Chef Walkabout. The food was great. Steppenwolf hasn't written in because his arteries exploded from that pan fried butter steak!

I had a good time. Nothing like a relaxing trip. You could get up and go take pics, take a nap or sit all day.
Bama, thanks for the rabbit, it was yummy..I could almost hear thumper trying to get out of the dutch oven.

Ala, cracked me up. Just as Ms Opie started to take a bite of rabbit, Ala said Here comes Peter Cotton Tail...lol

It was good to see some folks I hadn't seen in a while and meet new TT'ers.

I did pick me up a map of the area so I will be coming back, hopefully it won't take 2 yrs like it did this time.

StoveStomper, Yes the email addressis my home address, I don't check it everyday though. I guess I need to change my address to the one at work - Its Jeff.Pace@appl.ge.com
Ewker- Your pics were great looks like we can just about call this contest and give you first place. The Opies, Percisions, and a few others are still out. We'll have to wait and see. I turned mine in today and I will post them by Friday. I'm not going to enter the contest, but I will post them. First place is a book called "Walking Sipsey" its a good book to read. Good Luck All
Mudslide - be careful they only want you at Hooters to get the other Kidney. Naw, you will have a great time. I wont be able to make it. I have a lot to do around the house.
Dayhiker - Nothing personal but I do hope you know what a screech owl sounds like by now.
Gemini - The rabbit was cooked in a southern style. I put it on the grill at home and then mixed up some southern spices and sauce. I froze all of this and then cooked it in a alum. dutch oven aver the fire.

I'm still reading this thread. See if any of the three calls match what you heard. And don't let them kid you, they can make all kinds of sounds, even like a woman screaming.

Eastern Screech Owls - sounds

You may have heard one of these:

The Tawny Owl calls are interesting and the Short Eared Owl sounds somewhat like the Great Horned Owl.

Bama, thanks for the compliment on the pics but don't say I am the winner. There are a lot of good pics out there by the other TT'ers.

divinity, I was so hoping you would fall. Actually I thought flatlander Matt would fall going down the bank. I knew his pack was top heavy and it would cause him to tumble down the bank, but he made it.

Ewker, I was referring to the number of pic's You have to chose from. Then I saw how many the Opies have posted. Looks like you have competition. What I thought I would do was let everone pick thier own 24 then I'll start a thread linking to these pictures and put them up for a vote. I will be out of town friday and saturday. I'll start a thread sunday night so folks can vote. Between now and then everone pick their 24. and put them in a link on this thread.

Nowslimmer, The inside joke about the owl call is I had a coyote and a owl call with me on this trip. There were some cubscouts camping near us. They came through our campsite in the middle of the night friday night. I thought we would have a little fun with them and scare the bajibbers out of them. That went well. When we were packing up to leave I gave Lildayhiker a screechowl call. He enjoyed blowing it. We were pondering the drive home with dayhiker hearing it over and over and over and over, ...

I already have one of the books that is gonna be the prize. There are a lot of great photos out there. I hope Flatlandermatt post some. The format he was useing is very expensive and time consuming to print. That format is by far the best to use to get the best shots. It come's with a price and weight though. I admire anyone who can carry in that kind of equipment. I look forward to hearing from him when he gets back home. We still need a score keeper. Any suggestions.

Yea, That what I was planning to do Sunday night. The rules we set up was all pictures must be up by Friday night and we would let other TTrs vote for 1 week. Everone need to post their 24 entry photos here to be moved to the thread I'm gonna start Sunday night. The only problem I see is we need a score keeper that knows who is real and who is a troll to keep score.

I only have about 10 pics for consideration. The rest of the pics in my folder are father and son pictures. If it's ok, you can just link my folder and go with that. There are 26 pics there, but so many are father and son pics that we're left with a small number of the nature variety. Is this ok with you BAMA?

Matt said he didn't scan his material and wouldn't be able to participate. Too bad, 'cause I'd love to see how his turned out. BAMA - I thought I overheard him say he might send you some proofs. Is this correct? If so, I'm going to have to find a way to see those proofs. It'd be great to pic one and get a blowup. A prof quality print of the Sipsey would be nice matted and hanging on my office wall. I probably wouldn't tell too many folks that I took it ;)
