I went on a Backpacker.com trip this weekend on a last-minute whim. I met golfhiker, paleohiker, olddog, charlie and HeeHaw from the "other side." And they were all very nice people, too.”

“This thread is helping me understand the great divide better. Funny, I've backpacked over 20 years, subscribed to the mag about as long, but havent joined the other side's web site. (Other than five or so years ago when there wasn't much posting there; a couple of my posts for a partner for a hike went completely unanswered. I posted three or four msgs and then forgot about it.) I just joined this site two months ago after meeting some of you on a hike. I guess I'll consider myself clearly warned!”
